I perceive the academic level of st. jo kinder as HIGH with following observations:

1) The teacher has already started the 2nd book for 常識 after one month of sch. commencement. Apart from this, there is an additional 主題書 for 中秋節.
2) The teacher teaches words by asking the boys to do hand writing in class and at home everyday. At the same time, the boy needs to know vocabulary like 課室& 玩具, etc. Also, by dictation, they require the boys really "know" the words instead of learning without putting on memory.
3) The teaching method, as from my boy, they do have a variety of structured means like other kinders, experiential play (cutting mooncake in class by knife with teacher's assistance, sharing mooncake together), singing in music and even PE lessons, doing art work for training the motor skill ( my boy did the rabbit lantern by rolling the  "奏"紙 one by one)

This is what my personal opinion and i really appreciate the school, though my boy and i have a bit hard time for adjustment to its strict discipline.

My boy said there is no cutting of mooncake in his class, (I hope that wasn't happen on the day he was absent or he was being absent minded !!!)

Maybe there are some different arrangement in different classes !

How is your 2 寶貝 呀 !  My son accepts teacher's red pen correct but not my correction on his home exercise (I give him myself).  In his eyes, teacher has more authorities than I do.

Wow, your son is very smart.  He tells you so many things.  

I agree with your points.   Tonight, when I do the writing revision with my son, he shows me what's the correct and what's the different wrong ways of writing the words.  He said Ms. Shu remind them not to follow the wrong ways of writings.  So, I also appreciate much of the school.

By the way,  my son tells me that he does learn how to use scissors.  He said he is cutting the piano which I really can't guess what he means.    But he repeatedly says that he use the scissors to cut the piano, not the mooncakes.  Do you guess what he means?

Your son's right, D classs kids cut paper into piano (shape) by using 1/5 A4 size white paper.  Check his school bag, you may find the residual there.  I think it is a good way to practise their fingers.  Don't forget to praise his fine art!!!

I've never done any revision with my son during K2.
It seems I need to put some effort now.

Hi sng,

2nd semester in K2 is similar to the 1st semester.  There are 2 exams in K2.  I recall that the subject I need to spend most time to review with my boy is --> RECITE nursery rhymes (really RECITE)      They would learn quite a lot rhymes until the end of the semester (about 10) and you don't know which one for your boy in the exam so you need to practise all at home with him.  Other subjects are OK because some you can't do any revision (eg. musical movement, etc.) and some like Chi. and Eng. dictation, suppose you review with your boy every week.

Add oil !!

The kids are similar to weather, they give us one day sunshine and one day dark cloud.  Sometimes nice breeze and sometimes rain storm !!!

Maybe he has got a little good memory, can remember the words during normal homework.

But now, need to spell the english words, more difficult la. Both he and I can't be lazy any more.

Yes.  It's not easy to spell the English words and sometimes my boy also mixed up the Chinese words

It sounds good and funny. What comic will your son want to be, my son said he want to be a spiderman on that day.

My son seldom tell me anyting until I ask him a particular incident or events.  He said he played the cars too.  Not sure about the K3 classroom.

Same as last year, there is Holloween party this year too !  Yes need to buy the costume and candies.  I afraid he will eat too much candies and cough again, he can't control himself in front of the candies' temptation !
