可唔可以分享下你點用呢四組教材，我囡囡快要一歲，我開始了杜曼教育差不多兩個月，雖然唔知成效如何，閃咭的方法有幾得，但我最大的目的是希望小女兒愛閱讀，閱讀不但增進知識，也是樂趣無窮！

I finally went to MK City Centre and bought Ready Reader and some other books at very low price. Thanks for palmchristy's recommendation.

For your reference, IDEA will have a booth in Victoria Park in the coming Saturday. Visitors can apply for the membership then. (Member can have 30% off and non member can get 20% off yesterday)

re Ready Reader

Each set has around 50-51 little books.

Assign 5 books in a batch in acc with the book no. in descending order.

Repeat reading the 5 books for the whole week (at least 4 days)

Your kid can then naturally remember the books and feel confident in reading on their own when you are not around.  (coz they have got a sense of satisfaction !).

Of course you have to praise them for trying to read la.

Some kids will pretend to read (i.e. not really reading but trying to follow the adults suit).

Acc to the above, 1 set will last for about 10 weeks.  4 sets will last for 40 weeks (i.e. 8-10mths). If you start early, you can finish them early.

The purpose is not to make them complete reading the books BUT to love reading books.  

After finishing 4 sets, put them aside and read some others.  .

May take them out again after a reasonable while and repeat the process again.  Theoratically, the sets are good for age 2-8. So, they could be your kids' readers for a few years.

Kids like reading the same things over and over again. Especially the very young ones!!!

I have just bought all 4 sets for my 2 and a half year old girl, and i have a little questions, you said repeat the same 5books for one week, do you mean read all five books everyday, and repeat for a week? or read one book a day, and finish the five books in a week?

If i really have to read five books a day, will it be too  much? Will kids get bored?

Indeed, as I set out in my posting, 4 days at least is advised.  If you change books everyday, they won't get familiar with the books and increase their reading confidence.  It is also common that young kids love to repeat and they are unlike adults, won't get bored easily by repetition.  However, at the end of the day, you have to adjust acc. to your kid's needs. Frankly for little books as such, a kid could consume 20 -30 books theoratically. But there is no need to rush.  

Another reason to read 5 books in a batch is coz I noticed that those books are organised deliberately in a 5-books per batch way. Book #1-5 are relateds ..and so far.  YOu have a look and will know why I say so.  Especially true for Stage ABC.

Yes, five books a day and last that for 4 d or 1 week.  Just my suggestions and nothing professional ga.

my kid starts ard 2 yrs old. No, I read to him and never used the CD.  Unless you don't have time to read to them, avoid using CD.  Play the CD if your kid find listening CD while reading acceptable.

But just my way. No need to follow 100%.

would like to ask if my baby is just 9.5 months old can i read these books to him as well.  i'm now borrowing books (chinese and english) from library.  but when i read to him, he just crawls around.  not sure whether he listens or not.

I won't let my 8 month old baby read them now as the papers are thin and they tear easily.

昨晚我嘗試跟11個月大的小女兒看book 1-5，最初讀給她聽時，她無心看書，還想走開，但當我播出ｃｄ時，我和她一起邊看邊聽，她像是知道ｃｄ中的聲音就是講述書中的文字似的，靜下來跟我一起看book 1-5，沒有離開。我心想如果她每天也可以跟我這樣看書就好啦！所以我今晚會再嘗試。如果不順利的話，我打算暫時停止，待她大ｄ再看。我都覺得要近兩歲才看會較適合，事關ｂｂ太細仍未能集中注意力，四圍爬爬，加上ｄ書仔較容易撕攔。

噢, 我還讓依言邊看機靈狗的書邊聽CD... 但她似乎習慣了。

說回自製小故事。

雖然依言學會了超過六百片字卡，但是她自行看書的進度仍然很慢。讓她看自製書時，她會把每個字都讀出來，但這不是我希望她做到的，因我寧可見到她拿起簡單的書看。把字讀出來是會影響她的理解力及閱讀速度的。

再重看How to teach your baby to read 2004版，發現有不少地方更新了，很多資料是中文版翻譯所沒有的，令我有了新的看見。似乎要讓孩子進入閱讀，需要讓她看更多由學過的詞語所組成的句子，令她對閱讀（看）句子更有信心。
