All enrichment arrangements are pretty much finalised by June/July, and students are to inform the faculty of their choices. In my opinion, this is very cool as students are given one whole year to explore the world and things that are of interest to them, which is akin to a gap year. 100+ students will go on exchange to study something unrelated to medicine; another 100+, like my daughter, will spend a year to earn an intercalated BSc, will do research or humanity work, etc. There is really no point to pursue a 5-year instead of a 6-year medical program, there is really no rush for that. Spending a year on something different from medicine and coming back to continue their clinical years is really beneficial to their future personality development. |
