Are most of the top students go for IB?
(Previous years ~15 % students from outside, the balance are DBS boys, their academic performance are from top to 150, each form has around 240 students.)
Do the remaining DSE students feel that they are just the second class citizens in the school?
(Difficult to say. Just like the IB library, students, parents and outsiders may not know the real case, they may consider its biased. For the first two batches, some top boys focus on local professional programs, they prefer NSS, as more seats through JUPAS. Like last year double cohorts, much more medic students from NSS then IB. The real issue is the under-achiever and not the mid to top NSS students in DBS.)
As DBS is a DSS, it's quality of student intake should be among the best in Hong Kong. If its DSE results are not good enough, the school management should revisit whether their strategy of offering both IB and DSE at the same time is a right one.
(Agree, evaluation is needed, should take a few more years to observe the improvement in curriculum and team spirit and sense of belongings, then public exam results. The new principal does a few good things, like to reduce the elites to 較腳, attend classes is equal important as ECA and school teams...... Give the principal some time to restructure the school.)
