"Many Singaporean kids do drop out later becoz they cannot catch up with the curriculum."
How true is this statement close to fact, especially when you mentioned "many". I rather believe these Singaporeans drop out becoz of the simple fact that they are relocating back to Singapore. Think of this from a logical point of view, once these Singaporeans drop out of SIS, where can they go after that? No way for good local schools, with the fact that they do not have HKID, and they will have a more difficult time picking up Cantonese in LS than to catch up with the curriculum in SIS. As for other IS, it is equally competitive, especially if they drop halfway during Primary or Seconday schools. And let's not forget the "reality" that these Singaporeans mentioned might only be of "average calibre" (if they cannot catch up with the curriculum in SIS as mentioned), what make them think that they are able to compete with the others without the citizenship priority this time? |
