My son is studying their N1 preparation class for a few months and I'm very happy with his progress and he is also very happy at school.
At first, I also have doubts as to whether this is a good school too because there's a lot of negative comments in BK. And I agree their admin was unclear & uncertain. I read in BK there's a N1 preparation class for big kids before x'mas so I call them up to see if my son can study there. They replied 'yes' and require me to pay within a few days but they didn't give me details on what I was paying!! And they couldn't even tell me which campus he will be studying but school will start in about 2 wks?! When I visited the school, the local teacher said 'One Two Free' to the kids in the playground. I didn't like the English accents and I was worried!! And my husband thinks the principal is the worst speaker of all the kinders. She was only saying all the good things like memorizing a script but couldn't answer any questions directly. Anyways, we still went ahead because one of the 幼稚園面試培訓班 teacher said York is good in English and they teach a lot of things and it's best kids can learn the extra-curriculum in school (in the same environment).
It's been a few months and I can see my son has learnt a lot of things and everyday he'll imitate what the native English teacher has taught him. Frankly, I think my English may be better than some of the local teachers there, but their English is still sufficient to teach these kids. As for misc fees, I only paid once at the beginning of the semester and no other fees. I personally think York is a good school and I heard other parents saying the same thing when we pick up our child.
All teachers are very loving and caring and every teacher knows each students name!! Everyday when we pick up the child, the teacher will tell you his performance briefly. The teachers are free to talk to you if want to talk in more details. I personally don't see it is as 'negative' as people say. And most important thing, my son is happy and he is learning from school!

There are 2 local teachers for his N1 preparation class with 23 kids. I'm not sure it'll be the same for K1 because my son only in prep class.
The school said the main difference between main stream and int'l is:
Main stream have 2 local teachers + 25min native english lesson daily + mandarine (I don't know how many times and how many min/wk)
Int'l have 1 native teacher + 1 local teacher + 25mins of mandarine daily.
I was told the Cambridge course is around $190/hr and needs ~20 hrs/semester x 3 semester for the K2 exam. Maybe they do charge cheaper outside (I really don't know) but I know for sure the school will support this and they do teach similar things in class which reinforce their learning and memories.
I personally think if you want your kids to have good english, then York is not a bad choice. Of course, if you have offers from St.Cat, then maybe St.Cat is a cheaper choice.
