請問有冇邊間IS小學既學費係同英基差唔多呀?

victoria primary school fees around $7000, just about $1000 more than ESF.  also better campus,smaller classes - about 24 kids.  run on IB system.

大圍培僑書院其實好好, 我住港島都會比個女考, 如果收佢, 我會考慮搬.  the school isn't IB.  Campus site about as big as 弘立  ISF.  very new and good facilities. has swimming pool, I am not sure if it is track or basketball courts or what.  3 art rooms (one a pottery room). now proposing to build a covered heated pool.  唔係死讀書.  30人一班.  $2500/month.  school only teaches in mandarin and english.  it's 直資, 但聽聞學校本身都好有錢, 所以可以提供好多facilities同好師資, 但學費又唔太貴.

其實如果家長重視中文, 就要明白魚與熊掌, 一般is, 就算係漢基, sis呢d出名比較注重中文嘅is, 中文同一般主流英文學校始終冇得比.  我都有朋友係kcis讀k1, 佢覺得中文都係比較弱, 個仔根本就係英文人, 始終當中文係外語咁教,一日最多得一節, 同學之間都係以英文溝通, 唔可以期望太高. 最大難題係, 如果小朋友先接觸英文為主, 英文易學, 咁就會對中文抗拒.  我有八個nephews and nieces, 都係esf同cis讀, esf個d私下補中文一星期兩堂, 屋企人都同佢講中文, so what? 你預左中文程度要比本地落後三年, 而且白字勁多.  CIS個三個都唔鍾意中文, 亦唔會主動睇中文書, 學語言要寫得好, 一定要睇書.  呢個係死結.

我想補充, esf 中學係用星加玻中文課本, 但就用遲一年, 即係 year 8就用人地year 7.  我有朋友係星加玻人, 佢係星加玻d top 中學讀書, 佢話唔好期望sis中文係點就得, 而ESF重要用比sis遲一年課本...

呢度係討論緊國際學校, 培僑根本唔係國際學校, 亦唔係 IB, 佢地聲稱係用自己課程, 但學生會考本地公開試, 咁基本上係一間本地學校. 先唔講培僑好唔好, 不過如果係本地學校, 有好多選擇喎.

其實我有d化, 我咪話我有8個nieces & nephews係ESF同CIS讀嘅? 大家成日話追求國際化, 佢地8個都係滿口英文架, 講廣東話都冇問題, 據聞可以普通話溝通, 不過我未聽過. 但係佢地嘅good friends全部都係...香港人學生! yes, 唔好奢望個小朋友入左一間多外國人學校佢嘅圈子就會國際化.  最近收到我姪女係美國開engagement party嘅相 (佢係cis 畢業後就去左美國某top 10 school 讀大學, 係個邊做左幾年野), party d 朋友, 九成都係黃皮膚亞洲人!

我有感而發, 我都會考ESF, 但唔係我首選, 除左中文唔掂之外, 主要係一班有半班係鬼仔,印度人等等 (我個區間esf 大概係咁分配), 咁等如將可以揀朋友嘅base 少一半.  我讀完中一就離開香港, 所以keep唔到好多香港讀書的同學, 而家返左來, 真係覺得有舊同學好好, 讀書唔係淨係求成績, 同學都好重要.

You are very familar with KCIS.  How about their secondary school??  Is it good or not??  It seems less parents talking about their secondary school.  Any comment??  

I read their website and they are running IB system.  I found not many graduated last year.  What do you think??

CAIS scholl fee is almost same as EFS school. You can call CAIS or go to their website to check.

Hi Yau Cheung,

my son has started school for a few days already.  He complains a lot about the other classmates hitting and pushing him always, while Miss Law is very cool and strict.  He is very afraid of going to school... I think he may need to take some more time to settle down.  I met the teacher on the first day and she was very cool.  She didn't even care to say hi to the parents crowding outside the classroom.

By the way, what do you mean when you said the teacher is 'very strict in principle'?  Can you tell me more about this head teacher?

Miss Wendy Law 係教 P2W (KCIS P2 = local 小一)。

P2 的 3 個老師(Miss Wendy Law, Miss Liu & Miss Ripley) 對紀律要求頗高 ，不過亦很友善及愛錫小朋友，好多小朋友都好鐘意佢哋架 。

P1 開始同班 ...

I think you are better to talk / or write down on handbook to the teacher, if cannot solve you may go to ask Anita for some help, I feel Anita is very good and helpful.   It may be individual case, my daughter teacher is also very nice.

"while Miss Law is very cool and strict.  He is very afraid of going to school" - 本人較喜歡"嚴"的老師，所以我都幾鐘意 Miss Law，因為小朋友始終要多些規範；雖然小兒往年不是 Miss Law做班主任，不過 outing 時見唔少小朋友都鐘意拖住佢，我相信佢班小朋友都好鐘意佢。

"She didn't even care to say hi to the parents crowding outside the classroom." - 我每次見到佢都有都佢 say good morning or hi (除非佢忙緊)，佢每次都有笑容 or say good morning 架。不過有時上學/放學太多人(學生+老師+家長/僱工)，又真係幾難個個 say hi。

"By the way, what do you mean when you said the teacher is 'very strict in principle?" - e.g. 有次去 outing，小朋友們太興奮所以在車內越來越大聲談話，Miss Law 就一路由車頭行至車尾叫小朋友降低聲浪，唔好影響其他人。仲有好多例子，建議多到學校觀察。

"Can you tell me more about this head teacher?" - Miss Law 往年是 P2 老師 (P2W)，今年是 P1 老師 (P1W)，佢唔係 head teacher，head teacher 係 Mrs Daniel。

Hi Yau Cheung,  thanks for your advice.  I agree that kids should be strictly dealt with sometimes. I just worry that my son will be afraid of going to school again if he can't find it interesting at school. He did enjoy school when he was in Reception 2 with Ms Wilcockson.

I notice (and as told by the maid) that my son's uniform is very dirty every day after school. I sent my maid to watch over them yesterday during playtime at the playground and my maid said the boys were playing crazily and some boys fell and laid down on the floor, actually they were just playing, with happy faces.  The teaching assistants were standing aside without stopping them.  While my son, maybe already get use to this and 'playing' together.  I think that's fine provided they won't hurt each other badly.

There will be the 'meet the teacher's day' on Sept 16 after school.  So the teacher will meet with the parents altogether?  What's this about?  I may take a day off and get to know more about the teacher...

Also, thanks to 'dubyboy', I think I will give my son more time to settle down and let him try to 'adapt' and 'survive' in school as long as he isn't hurt.

i have a question about kcis. what secondary school normally the students go after they complete their primary school (international session) ?  do you have any idea?

will they still be able to apply local secondary school?

Singapore International School (SIS) 唔係 ESF。另外，SIS 與 ESF 比較，SIS 較多功課及測驗。少部份 SIS 學生完成小學後會轉讀本地英中；ESF 學生則絕少讀本地中學。

will they still be able to apply local secondary school? - I think they maybe able to study in local english secondary.

Yes, thanks, received on Friday, and only one activity can be chosen by each student for free.  I heard somewhere before that there were 2 free and many other paid activities available but this time, I don't see any yet.
