Re: St.Catherine 2004 K1 ChatRoom
My daughter is studying in St Catherine K.3 this year (they divided the classes into Nursery (K.1), Lower (K.2) and Upper (K.3)) and she will soon study P.1 next year.
She really enjoys the 3 years' life in St Catherine. However, bear in mind that studying in St Catherine does not guarantee a seat in a good primary school (as there are more than 1000 graduates in St Catherine only every year) but the standard of the school is high.
I think the homework is quite difficult for Upper as the children are prepared for their primary and they have to write every day homework in the school report book and signed by parents every day.
There are great variations between class sizes: from 20 to 32 (in my daughter's class now) and the teacher said there is no special criteria for reallocation of the students into different classes.
My daughter said that there are 2 sessions of Putonghua per week.
However, during the primary allocation this year, I think that many of the students go to private schools as you all know that the allocation is only by points and by luck.
I know quite a number of girls go to Good Hope, APS, SFA and a few (around 1 to 2 per class) to DGS. Some of the boys go to SFA. APS or DBS.
Hope this information can help parents who want to put their kids to St Catherine Nursery.
