Dear all,
After 2-month injection of B-12, my son has shown great improvement in social awareness (witnessed by his trainers).  His comprehension and expression were assessed as above his age during the speech assessment.  However, there are still many weak areas, e.g. poor narration skill, poor compliance, weak time management, poor social behaviour (用語言或者行動欺凌其他比他差的小朋友), ...., etc.  

仍然需要不停的訓練。

We are also trying to do B12 but are now facing some technical problem.  I just want to know when you do the injection, will you use anesthetic cream, cooling cream etc. before doing the injection?

It's difficult to do the injection on my son even when he is sleeping.  I am hoping that anesthetic cream, as advised by Dr. Neubrander, would help.

Dear Mrs. Cheung,

I feel so happy to hear that your son has such a great improvement lately.  I don't think 用語言或者行動欺凌其他比他差的小朋友 is a serious problem of social behaviour.  I hope my son has this kind of social problem rather than no interaction with other kids.

Is your son awake while you're giving the shot?  I suggest you to try giving the shot when he's awake.  Tell him it gonna be quick and no pain.  Just force him to take it with some helpers like at Dr. Lam's clinic.  I think after a few times of trial, your son may be realized that the injection is a regular treatment with no objection.  You may think about to try the B12 nasal spray if you don't want to force your son.

I have not been posting but have been following your postings.  I just want to ask if your kid is still  going to AP and how is he progressing there ?  Also, have you started him on the B-12 nasal spray ?  What are the effects you observed ?  I have started the B-12 spray for 2 weeks now, can't tell much still.

I am currently reading on the hyperbaric oxygen chamber.  Are any of you doing the same ?

We'll visit Dr. Trodd on the coming weekend.  My son will take a heavy metal test for hair to update where's the stage of detox.  I'll also check with him about the oxygen chamber and other new supplements like B12 nasal spray.  Do you have any sharing about the oxygen chamber?  

My son is still taking aba training by AP since July.  So far so good. I can't tell how much it works until an intensive assessment has been conducted.  I think social skill training is more important than 1 to 1 training after the kid has developed appropriate speech ability.

The machine is to use ozone (O3) to sanitize the air.  According to our observation and trial, we found that the mini-size air purifier has no automatic ozone control with the size of apartment. i.e. there is a chance that excessive ozone is generated and that may cause some concern, although it has been approved by Government safety standard.

It is difficult to assess the safety of the device for the moment, as my husband suggested.  We're looking for the improvement in the next generation of the product.

Exactly!  That costs three unsuccessful shots already--too bad :cry:

Last successful shot was on 24/12 in Dr. Lam's office.  But he had shown tremendous reluctance to receive the injection.  He just ran away when he saw Dr. Lam opening the fridge to get B12.  Too smart!  Then he requested "No injection!".  I responded "Let's see...but it's good for you."
We struggled for a while at the door and it took two persons to grasp and hold him (a nurse and I).  Well Dr. Lam was professional and quick enough to give him the shot within two second.  My son no doubt cried.  He then looked miserably at Dr. Lam after the shot and said "I am hurt!" and demanded a bandage.  When we left, he spantaneously said with a crying face "Thank you Dr. Lam, see you next time!" but was quick to add "No injection!"  Dr. Lam smiled and replied "No injection next time!"

We are not professional and confident enough to give him a quick shot at home when he is conscious.  There are only two choices: do it while he is asleep or bring him to Dr. Lam, which is costly.  We still want to do it at home.

Dear Siu_Ming,
After several attempts, I have discovered a good method --- to bath my child with warm water before the injection so as to let him relax and keep the skin soft.  I just use alcohol, no other cream, as antiseptic.  He feels less painful and co-operates well.

Dear mrsphcheung and kwai,

May I ask which type of B-12 shots are you using? The one you use the syringe to take out certain amount each time from a bottle or the syringe with pre-filled B-12?

Dr. Lam gave us the former type, but my husband Siu_Ming thought that the latter type should be used after he searched the information from the web.
