I'm a Pui Ching Graduate (class of 89)
Just wanna share some thoughts with you about this school.
I started pui ching at K1- Form 5. a total of 13 years... and I really love the school... but I now have a 2 year old girl... I really doubt if I should send her to Pui ching anymore.
there's many many good side of pui ching you'll get you see when your kid progress... like it's strong science ( Phy, chen Bio, Math), extensive and powerful alumini all over the world( pui ching graduates are very powerful and helpful in the US), it's conservative tradition and if you had attend any introductory seminar about Pui ching, you will know it's a school that 's aimed for University ( which means the school prepares students for universities and not for work)... and much much more ( which includes a beautiful campus).....
The reason I said I may not send my girl there is becuase it's a rather conservative Chinese style school and I don't know whether their style really match the need of today's society... especially if you are planning to send your kid study aborad later.
I never question it's English standard... I graduated from Pui Ching and went to the US for University right away... yes, at first, I found a little difficutly in the language... but after a year.. I was okay.. and had no problem with any school work.. I then stayed in the US for Master degree and lived there for 16 years untill last year.
Language .. I needed a year.. but the chinese style of sitting and recieving and not participating at class... not questioning my teacher.. that followed me for quite a few years... and I had to fight real hard to work against this habbit.... traditional chinese learning style was more harmful in my university experience then the english language itself.
Another thing is.... I hope I am not offending any parents here...during my time, most of the students in PC were middle class, working class, civil servants and I'm not saying that there's something wrong with it. Parents of PC are generally honest hard working people who appreciate life and that's great! ..... but as an adult now.. I know it's important to have friends who can help along in life... and as we all know, friends from school lasts the longest... you really want your child to make friends, have ful and build certain kind of connection when they're young.
that's why some American people do anything to send their kid to a good university.. becuase they're able meet friends that's has certain "background" and build up some connections in life.
Hey, but things may have changed and I didn't know about it.... it's just a little thoughts I 'd like to share with you all.
