蘭蘭:
因你D questions要求either present tense or present continous tense, I have the following findings (my personal view only):
1.He travels (travel) in China this summer.
1.He is traveling (travel) in China this summer. (Correct. We cannot use simple tense in this case as the timing is just 'this summer'. 'This summer' can mean the 'coming summer' which is the near future. Present continous tense can be used in the action to be happended in the near future.)
2.This photo was taken when I was three.
My father was carrying (carry) me on his shoulders.
2.This photo was taken when I was three.
My father is carrying (carry) me on his shoulders.(As the answer should either simple present tense or present continous tense, the answer in this case should be the latter one. Actually, I don't think past continous tense is wrong.)
3. People do always buy (buy) new mobile phones.
3. People don't always buy (buy) new mobile phones.(I think , in this case, it's seldom to say 'do always (verb) in positive sentence. Normally, we use 'don't always (verb) in negative sentence structure.)
4.A: Did they go (go) to Ocean Park on Sunday?
B: No, they didn't.
4.A: Are they going (go) to Ocean Park on Sunday?
B: No, they aren't. (This sentence is quite ambiguous. But I think the question is asking something to be possibly happened in the nearest future (i.e. coming Sunday) not the past Sunday. It's quite often to use 'is/are going to' in this type of sentence. That's why the question is 'Are you going to OC on Sunday?')
5. She often miss the (miss) class because of illness.
5. She often misses (miss) class because of illness.(Very clear, 'She' should match with 'misses' in simple present tense (often).)
