It seems a bit quiet here !  Maybe all are busy with the summer activities or traveling ?

Since the kids are from various kider's K1, may I ask what have been taught in your kid's K1 ?

Mine has no daily homework, only 1 page for drawing lines and coloring for the weekend.  And the teacher tell stories and sing songs and play toys ... etc, so my is so happy to go to school !!!

Same as mine.  He is really happy going to Kinder.  More, teachers treated them like babies, always holding them. ...........  Life can become very tough in St. Jo.

My friend's daughter is 4.5 years old, she knows to write some Chinese word like (dictation) 輝,美, her own name, 家儀 ...etc,  Math : dictate 1-100, some simple addition within 20 (she study at Kumon  but my son hate Kumon's worksheet)
; Eng : Dictate : A-Z and a-z, also can read some simple book with the words.  She is 'big girl' and going to K2 in coming Sept.   But my kids cannot do the above yet !

Is her standard a normal one ?  

Can anyone share ?  I just want some refernce and indiation.

I think she is super-normal.  I know a girl who is gifted with IQ score 144 (Wechsler Intelligence Scale), but she could not write such difficult Chinese charaters at the age of 4.5.  However, for English, she could do a little better, and for maths almost the same as the little girl of your friend.  I guess if the little girl could do that without too much of industrial practice, she must belong to "superior" group of IQ.

For your little boy, I guess his standard is just normal.  Boys develop faster at teenages.  So, no worry la, let him enjoy his childhood.

BTW, which class is your kid in St. Jo.  Is he in K3 or K2?

hi all st.jo mum,

for my boy, he is inerest to study himself,
and his school K1 also get some simply homework
so he is now (4yr4month) but he can reconize/count
fm 1-100 and some chinese word like日田女子. (I don't think he is much clever than other)
don't worry, it depend on the boy's interest.
I'm worry my boy's interest will last how long, but
they will learn more & more in the future.

How good is her Eng ?  In fact, does her family has started teaching since she was very young ?  Like those I see from other forum, start flash card at 0 year old... etc.

Congratulation !!! Your kid has the initiative and interest of self-learning.  This is very good for any knowledge.  My kid does have some drives in learning but only for dinasaurs and airplane !

I'm not sure if it is true or not, for boy's 專注力
is very week.(As my case, I can't find any drawing/piano class for boy below 4, because the teacher said boy can't stay too long).
Same as others,my boy also like to learn the signal for car & all truck/fire engine etc etc...

would kindly let me know how many activity for your kid, such as piano class/drawing class/phonics.....

My boy will be in LC, how about yours?  We may meet at St. Jo.

IQ of 90-110 is regarded as normal.  The girl I mentioned is very good at languages.  She speaks very good English and Chinese.  She also has good memories and loves reading.  I did not notice her parents training her in any special ways, no flash cards as such.  But they talk to her a lot and treat her like an adult, let her plan for her own works, play time, activities, etc.  I believe the fast mental development may be that she has been treated like an adult.  I also noticed that she can be very emotional sometimes.  Her parents have a headache in this aspect.

I gather it is good to have a kid with very high IQ, but the parents will have to be very patient and smart themselves.

My boy will be in class A.  
My husband's colleague has a girl who is 2 years old now.  But she just communicate well with my son.  If my son play with the girl at same age, he is far behind, especially in language.  He has no chance to speak almost !!!  When I look at them it is funny.  

My kid now will use his hand to cover my mouth when he want to talk more.
