Re: Think International School
Hi, Chau444,
my baby is now 9 months and I;m considering the 2 years old class for her (sorry, a bit too early but just want to make a right choice for her).
My hubby, myself and my maid talking in English mainly to her and we'd love to create a billingual environment for her (that means, English and Cantonese), our plan is after she got familiar with these 2 languages, we'll let her learn mandarin also (since my hubby and myself also know Mandarin, not native, but good enough to communicate in business matters), we can speak to her in Mandarin later, of course, the teaching should be conducted by native speaker.
I don't prefer to put her to full day course in 2 year class, so if I put her to half day billingual 2 years old class.
Will her got enough English environment to learn English?
should I put her to international stream in 2 year class since not much chinese taught at that time, so I can speak to her in cantonese at home for her to pick chinese and let her immerse in English environment in school in order to have a good english training.
which way is better? any recommendation?
language skill is very important and exposure is also important even if they're small baby, they can pick up a lot. I believe. And, the most efficient way for them to pcik up language is via the environement, teacher and peers. That is another point I buy international stream since all kids are from different culture and have to speak in one single lanagauge, they can learn from each other and master English medium.
sorry, too many questions, I love my baby, I want her to be happy. I never aim to have a very talented daughter but I know having proficience in english and mandarin will definitely make her life easier and she can communicate with many other people better. |
