Hi sandylaw, 想請問下, 最近有幾多丘佐榮學校的負面消息, 我聽我個女的幼稚園班主任說, 丘佐榮近年想每方面也追上新舊基灣, 這樣pushing小朋友在所難免(唔係那裡有好成績去競爭?), 另外,是有關老師們/主任的德育或修養問題, 是不是咁恐怖?! 你有無識人/小朋友在那兒讀? cincin

Read all your post, you seem quite perfer to get in 舊基灣 and want to know about 奧數. May be I can tell you a little bit about of it.

My daughter is studying in ccc Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) at P.5, This year the school opened the course of 奧數 to them for side study but the terms of condition to join this course, the students must be at least at P.5 or above and the school will invite the exam marks over 85 marks students to join first. The feed back came out from the students, most of them felt the course is hard and the level is as same as secondary one. I do not know whether 奧數 is seprate differ levels to match differ standards or not.
But I can tell you that ccc kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) the strong subject is Maths, Chinese and Music. So may be you can get some hence of above for your daughter.

By the way, if compare the 新舊基灣, 新基灣 is better than 舊基灣 in acedamic and music, but 舊基灣 is better than 新基灣 in sports. They are both famous and welcome at Eastern districts.

Thanks for your advice.  Yes, I'd like 舊基灣 more than 新基灣, coz I know my daughter is not that kind of clever.  If choosing a quite pushing and difficult primary school, I am afraid that she will be easy to lose interest in learning, therefore, it is a big deal & challenge to me. 學校成績不過不失得又可以讀得開心, 就是最大理想和希望.  Additionally, I'm a working mother, if I can sit besides her and watching out closely, I think it will be better, but I couldn't...

By the way, do u know the mother or kids who is studying at 丘佐榮學校? I've chosen this school at the fourth place (統一派位), any comment ?! Tks !!

舊基灣冇規定每個小朋友都要有課外活動，乜有學校會咁架咩？ 其實你個女對數學興趣唔大，我覺得咩數都唔適合，你不如問阿女想學乜仲好，如果佢真係冇興趣，你推佢去學，佢都冇心上堂啦

我有聽過話丘佐榮想追上新基灣，學校老師係咪咁恐佈就唔知，但我聽朋友講個校長唔係一個好校長，佢眼中只有成績好的學生，其他乜都睇唔到，亦唔會聽家長的意見

但今年我去睇自行分配結果時，見到有小朋友20分都入唔到

Hi sandylaw, yes, u are right. 我都不想推她去學那些她不喜歡的, 所以她一開始對我說 : <媽咪, 我不想學珠心算了, 好悶呀?!>經過數次與她交談后,她選擇終止,我尊重她的意見, (但有時我也要分辨小朋友因懶惰已不想學習事物或是真的不喜歡?!) 現在她在學芭蕾舞及學琴, 都是她喜愛的. 唉!有感而發,現今d小朋友真係很幸福, 相反,以前我想學也不可以,連提出也不敢,生怕屋企的經濟不能支持,anyway,她現在可以好開心的學,我也十分開心... (我係唔係好傻呀?!) cincin

Hi sandylaw, 死啦,mud依家丘佐榮變成咁, 我仲在統一派位名單上選得幾前添(排第四位), 因為班主任話現在該校改變了作風, 成績及各樣也想追上新舊基灣, 如果校長本人的德行或修養有問題的話, 這樣好大鑊!! 另一方面去想, 要成績及各樣比人強的話, 梗係要谷啦,學校的名氣和成績與小朋友的努力成正比也不為過 到到都係咁啦,不是嗎?!唉!要叫自己放鬆d... hey..hey    cincin

I have no comment at 丘佐榮學校, I also don't know whether 丘佐榮學校 can catch up New/Old Kei Wan or not. But I trust if 丘佐榮學校 want to do that, the school must has a long way to go. The school not only need to have a good teacher teams, good plans and of course a good leadership. Besides of that, they also need to attract more smart kids to get in.

As a parent of us, we should estimate our kids ability before choose the suitable school for them, we can not only put all the concentration on which schools are the best to neglect what our kids need.

By the way, if you put 丘佐榮學校 at the fourth place, It is not too high change to get in as the low birth rate, you kids may be get in with your first three choose.

Hi Jcmichelle, thanks so much for your advice.  I also agree w/ your view, actually, I want my kids learning and studying normally and happily rather than sadly and under too high pressure.  Finally, they need to face to the fact that they study, but not the mothers.  Being their mothers, we need to share their happiness and at the same time, the sadiness.  Anyway, I wish that u are right (your kid may be get in with your first three choose, because of low birth rate). cincin :

不用太擔心，其實16網派到頭三志願的機會好大，因有好多理想學校，柴灣一堆，筲箕灣一堆，個個都分散投資，競爭唔算激烈。
我好同意jcmichelle講，丘佐榮要追上新基灣，首先要先吸納smart kid，但大部份的smart kid都會選新基灣唔會選佢，佢一味谷些差小小的學生上去，會適得其反，學生讀得辛苦，家長就罵聲四起，學校又一於少理，最後校譽破壞哂，成績幾好都補唔返呢

Yes, thanks, sandylaw, 說得有道理!今天我大女(k3)學校帶領參觀科學館, 見佢好興奮, 新年快到了,平時要返工,沒有太多時間陪她們, 唯有到新年幾天假期陪下佢地玩下啦, 去邊到好呢?! Any ideas from u ??!! cincin

如果有時間的話，去一些有農村感覺的地方，如荔枝園，香薰園，有得燒烤、餵動物，有些還有得種菜。另外濕地公園、動植物公園、海洋公園見下不同的動物，都幾好架。
遠離都市，去吸一口新鮮空氣吧

科學館真係好好玩，有機會你自己同佢去多次吧
