Re: Giving up DBSPD for LS
It seems to me that it is meaningless to compare the two schools, and we should not blindly believe that having gained entry to DBSP or LS is a guarantee of the future success for the kid. I once mentioned that I know 4 guys (of different age groups) graduated from DBS. Only one of them has become a professional and has a good career, the remainders merely work on mediocre job. The successful one is my nephew who came from a single family and had never attended any tutorial class or lecture. Telling the case is with no disrespect to DBS (and in this connection I frankly admitted that my son did apply DBSPD before but failed!).
Many of us may still recall that one of the 10A HKCEE students last year came from a secondary school in Tuen Mun. If your kid is bright, he remains bright in either school or, indeed, in any school. This has nothing to do with whether the school is a DSS, subsidised or government school, nor is one having a bigger and more elegant campus than the other.
The main advantage for going to reputable school is that the chance of your kid being affected by bad peer group can be minimized or reduced as I believe most, if not all, parents who desire sending their kids to this kind of school do care and concern the upbringing and education of their children.
