it is a real long story....
i got 2 daughters and my older one is now a grade 2 student at pui kiu, she is outstanding in english since she was a little kid and we communicate in english only since she was in my tummy..... but she is far below standard in chinese, she dun like learning chinese in any aspects. She learnt Putonghua starting from 5 and she was good as well but only in oral, she cannot read the Chinese words without pinyin
When she applied primary schools 3 years ago, she attended interviews at 8 DSS/ private schools and she got 2nd interviews for she had applied, but got no offer at all. I was so depressed and wonder the reason why,…..this was almost the first time I really realize that Chinese is an important issue in hong kong and the situation was my girl sometimes cannot even write her Chinese name….
Luckily, she was accepted by Pui Kiu and I was puzzled if my girl can adapt to its Chinese learning module in the very first beginning, but this was her only offer. I can tell that Pui Kiu is a happy school for my girl from the smiles and the eagerness to school even she was sick. One more thing is that she learnt much more Chinese there and she started singing Putonghua songs
When it’s the time for my younger daughter, I got no hesitate in applying Pui Kiu. When the result was announced, my elder daughter was the first one burst into tears and she asked what we can do then, I told her that I am going to write letters to the principal for instances. And u know what happened next, some days later, I noticed a letter addressed to the principal and it was written by my elder daughter and it was in CHINESE!!!!!!!!
