Fill in the blank in Chinese is the most difficult part, so it is normal that most kids don't know how to do it.  When you get the test paper, you will know that the questions are not difficult, but for a 6 years old kid, they just don't know how to apply the words they learnt.  That's the part you all need to do more practice with them.

Next time, they will be better.

she told me the sentence like this:
big rain, and fill in the 3 words and then our tmw school picnic have a chance to cancel.

Does the paper ask them to fill in 3 words in the blank?  In P.2 paper, they only need to fill in 2 words.  I remember that last year, they have 2 parts, first part is fill in 2 words, and second part fill in 1 word.  Since, the Chinese text book is different than last year, I don't know what they are teaching in P.1 this year.  But if this is the question, I think the correct answer could be : 看來 / 似乎.  I think 看來 will be more likely answer for P.1 standard.

My daughter mentioned the 3 words question too.  I guess basically it follows the previous format except only that question.

After the most difficult part, "Chinese", things start to get back to normal.  It's daddy's turn now, I delegated Math to him.

I share the tension on the Chinese as well.  
But, I belief we shouldn't be too upset if she can't score a good result, though we did work hard for that.  

Every one takes different time to master different skill and adapt to a new environment.  Afterall, they are just  6.

They will all finally get there by the end of P1.

Cross my fingers that she will do better... Chinese is her weakest subject so I think she needs to work twice as hard next time... Poor her....

I'm sorry, I don't understand the below information.

From 2007 and after, how many % primary students can be promoted to secondary, is it only 55% ???

A.  The calculated percentage is only part of the number. That represents only the selection done by the computer at the second stage.  

B.  I assume that the students selected by the secondary school in the first stage (the discretionary stage ) will not be counted in the second stage.  

C. The school may also consider recommendation by the primary school in the case that some good students are unfortunately left out by the computer allocation.

Base on the above composition (A+B+C), the total number will surely be more than 55% but the exact number will subject to the school's decision in each year.

As a new comer to Maryknoll, I have no clue on the pattern of the total percentage in the past years.
