Dear all,
If someone can share more about the teaching methods and your kids' learning in school? From the piece of information in other discussion thread, i learn that there is "not much" activity learning in class. Is it the case? It seems that the parents are unable to participate in class much except birthday party, how we know more about the kids' study progress and their school adjustment? Also, is it heavy to manage the dictation & school assessment? Apologies for so many questions , i am still 15/16 for my boy's start in K.2 in Sept.06.
Hi Centre,
Your information is quite correct. Parents have no need to participate in school's activities (even for birthday parties and outing).
You like this style school ?
I like this style because it's like the schools I attended in my childhood (--> very traditional type). Parents just 'give' kids to school and school is reliable to guide them.
I know what my boy has leanrt from -
- weekly study summary distributed by school on every Friday;
- textbooks, homework, exercises sheets, etc.; and
- the descriptions of my boy about school life. He told me they have arts & crafts (classroom work taken back); music class (they have exams on singing songs); story time; PE; English classes; etc.
You think these are enought 'active'?
Recently I heard my boy telling me two things:-
1) he saw a big lamb in TV, full of thick hair. He told me 'you can cut the lamb's hair, clean it and use it to make wool sweater' (very clear description);
2) he saw a dog in street. He told me 'mama, you know dogs do not sweat. They don't get wet skin and hair if they're out hot. They sweat by pulling out their tongue'.
Both time I asked him who told him these knowledge and he said he learnt at school.
Recently before the exam (they're having exams in these two weeks), the school taught concepts of 'floating' and 'sinking' in water. My boy said teachers let them do experiments at school so he wanted to try at home as well.
I found this level is enough to me.
What do you think ?
