I've chosen St. Catherine for my younger son.

My girl was rejected by St. Catherine.  Now she studies in the class with mcheung's son.  I found that she does not really want to go to KV.  She does remember what Ms LEE taught her and now she could relate what had happened at school but deep down I think she does not like the rules and discipline there and does not make many friends in the class.  I should admit that Ms LEE has her way to teach the kids and she is a very experienced kindergarten teacher.  KV has her own way to train the kids but somehow I feel that it's not the school for my kid.  If St. Catherine has offered us a place in 2001, quite likely we'd choose it.

As for my son, I've considered that having a native speaker as one of the teachers would be a good idea.  At least I don't have to spend thousands of dollars on teaching him native Eng. in extra curricular activity like Nottingham, etc.  He's been there for a long time before entering N1.


I truly agreed with mcheung that "事實邊有完美的學校"

英文亦串字及做句，所以，寫方面水平不弱，但老實說oral較弱，但屋企及興趣班可補此點..........事實邊有完美的學校？？

總括，考私小及上傳统小學，KV一般絕不困難，that's why我揀根德！！

唔一定必收，我亦見有唔收例子(但最後waiting list上)............弟弟/妹妹考番KV，收chance大d，据聞會比2nd interview(第2次機會) d 弟弟/妹妹，因1st interview唔得！

好多人話女仔讀SC男仔讀根德,你地有無聽過...,唔知考小學,學校又鐘意收邊間的學生呢??

根德難入or SC難入些..............我覺得2間都不大難，我2個仔不算叻，2間都可考入！！

好多人話女仔讀SC男仔讀根德...........我有聽過，但揀KV，係根据有friend仔女係KV及SC的comments，以及做reseach作比較，更重要想亞仔上邊類小學及其性格而決定。

學校又鐘意收邊間的學生............很難說，始終要睇小朋友個人表現，2間都有名，各有所長！！

揀邊間，最重要你自己buy邊間

Hi every mami,
I can share some of my experience of parental class
of phonics. I have attended the four days courses held by the ECT inTai Koo Shing. The course fee is around one thousand something. At the end of the last lesson , you would get 1 book which is offered by the center.I had chosen the one which is named Teacher's guide(cost ~ 300 something)By the time , I dont have time to study yet.I found that this course
could give you a better idea of learning phonics with your kids. The tutor there won't force you to buy
the letterland materials and she said that you could
use other brands of materials. As I think,the sounds
of letters like short vowels A,E,I,O,U or long vowels
ay, ee , oa , ue are constant and will not change their sound in other brand of phonics materials.
The main reason for studying of this course is that we can accompany our kids in learning and help them to overcome problems as we have such skills after learning.I think I will let my girl to learn at home
first and go to centre for studying later. It is because
the scope of learning phonics is quite wide and they
can't understand well as they are still very young.It is difficult to understand the meaning of silent magic e, 2 vowels going together as at the age of 3 or 4.
However, this is only my point of view. I keen on
chosing Jolly Phonics as the materials contain VCD and our kids can learn from sight .Those sounds of
letters would be shown by tutor's demonstratin. I still
looking for it as it is out of stock from the w...k....
My girl is kent's k1 pupil and hope we can share our
experiences in teaching kids.
