It's really difficult for Chinese test. Don't know how to prepare next time. I's reallya waste of time to study those testbook and 課室練習. It's more difficult than the mock exam

Refer to the test papers (not only Chinese but also English), I also think that the worksheets are more difficult that the tests.

When I prepared the test with my son, I found that he did not understand some of the questions but he knew how to do it.   Then I told him even the test is easier than your worksheet, it doesn't mean you no need to understand what you are learning and doing.  Learning is benefit to you and don't just focus on the marks of tests and exam.

Actually I think the attitude of learning is more important that the marks, especially for the young kids.

They are just P1 students, only 6 yrs old.  Give more chances and times to them and you will see the improvement.

Concentrate on the usage of vocab in the textbook
and all of the worksheets (very importatnt).  Practise
the exercises of composing sentences/ extending
sentences and rearranging sentences...etc.

對於溫習中文的方法,我很同意yanamami,課文內的詞語,我要求小兒默寫,又要他朗讀課文,或跟據課文的內容與他分析,課室補充跟他記重點,又跟據補充工作紙估計測驗的內容,如作句.擴寫.續寫.填充等題型一定會出,再給予少量的同類的補充題目,結果一如所料,小兒能熟識各類型的題目,成績較上次模擬測驗高了10多分,只是他抄寫文字時錯了不少的careless mistakes,否則會更好,當然這個星期內,他暫停所有課外活動;還有一點,在中英數三科中,花了最多時間的是中文科,溫習時,小兒也感吃力,故我建議當每教完一個單元後,也要跟他默書,當然,課外閱讀是不能少的.

Yes, I agree and I use similar method to train my son.  Actualy one thing I don't need to force him to do is to 寫字.  Especially Chinese,  he like to practice Chinese writing by himself when he has time.   So I just copy all the 詞語 from the testbook and write it on his used 生字薄 that he used in Kinder and let him do it when he has time.  He will repeat when he finish writing those that I have 起字頭.  Gradually these words are on his mind and one day when I challenge him for a  dictation.  He can dictate almost all of them.   I also teach him to do exercise that I bought from outside bookstore and copied those words that he usally encountered in his 生字薄.  So little by little he knows more words.   Asked them to write more, practise more are the only way to improve.   As expected,  most of his mistake found in his test paper is due to his carlessness.  So there is still room for improvement.....

By the way,  in the Chinese Test there is a comprehension  regarding 兩姊弟找貓.  The brother and sister are discussing if they need to place an Ad in the newspaper to find the cat.   And there is a question asking if you were the brother,  what better method you can suggest to find the cat.  The answer from my son make me laugh - What he wrote is " 我找姊姊去找"  這非常附合他的個性 : 精人出口, 笨 人出手.  And the teacher give him a tick.

This is a good question.  This type of open-ended question is very common in the the public exam.  So we better train the kids right now.

I also think this kind of questions is better than that just need the kids to remember.  Let them "think" is better than just "remember".  But maybe not all of the kids cope with that, need to do more. My son always don't want to think, need to force him.

This is a good question.  This type of open-ended question is very common in the the public exam.  So we better train the kids right now.

My son said that "tree" drawing should be submitted next Mon.  But he (and maybe some 1C students) already finished last week, so they submitted on past Mon.  If they already submitted on past Mon, nothing to submit next Mon.

According to my kid, Crystalss is right, it's next Mon., not the past Mon.
