My personal comment is better to have a teacher with 'colleague' background.  The meaning of 'colleague' background equals to really studying piano or music in the past in other countries.  In Hong Kong, there are many those teachers here but one thing is that their tuition fees may higher than ordinary teachers.  Also, they only have lessons for 1 hour, no 30 mins or 45 mins.  Some of those teachers required the parents and students to have short meeting first, as they are may not 100% accept every student,  they treasure on the attitude of the students.

Why i suggest to learn piano from them?  The reason is that those teachers like piano very much as they used their life-long time to studying piano and played many many years.  Their dedication and keen on piano can really influenced the children and make your children enjoy and like piano.  As they are studying music, they have enjoyment of music, they will not lead to learn piano only.  They will teach the students how to enjoy music and use their inner-ears to listen to music.

Regarding examination, getting very high mark in exam is very important, the most important is finding a teacher can teach students to have enjoyment of music.  If children like music, they definitely will do it well, right?  

It is just may personal comments.

Sorry for the late reply all mothers, there is sth. wrong with my PM system. When I go in, it bounced me out saying I'm not registered.

I've actually asked my piano teacher and she feels uncomfortable in sending her contacts to people whom I don't really know. She wants to know some background of the family first because she comes to my place, maybe for some security. She also said that she's quite full now, as she needs to make some time allowance to travel to her students' place, and she is off on Tuesdays.   

I will try again later and ask her if there is any vacancies. If there is , I will contact the mothers who have PM me, and try to get some more information from you (if you don;t mind) and tell her about your family background and location.

其實作為 parent 真的要想清楚自己個小朋友 ready 去學未? if 理解力太差, 學錯手勢 and 力度, 老師又解得唔好就好 trouble!
