St. Paul's Boys Primary School vs St. Joseph, which one is better?

This is only my own experience that I met several (2 to 3) girls who are at their 2 to 3 years old, they can play, communicate and learn almost as well as a
4 year old boy.

So I myself will feel more relax to let my daughter to be a 'little girl' but not my son, UNLESS HE SHOWS HE IS REALLY BRIGHT AND SMART.

You are welcomed. What I stated is not any sound advice at all. Every parent does have his/her own thought and preference.

My son is in no better position than yours; he is also a 'small' boy. Personally, I don't prefer delaying his primary education for one year. May be he needs more effort to catch up with others at the very beginning, but it should be all right as time goes on (I hope).

My niece (now 19) will be attending the 2nd year at the HKU in the coming September. She graduated from Form 5 at the age of 16. So by calculation, you can work out that she was too a 'small' girl when she attended her Primary 1.

Up till present, if your son were accepted by both St Paul Co-ed and DBSPD, would you give up the seat of St Joseph ? Why ?

I had already provided you with my answer to your 1st question earlier, but only in another way round, that had my boy been successful in his application for the DSSs but now got a place at St. Joseph I would not have hesitation to give up the place at the former as the latter is free of charge.

As St. Joseph (I mean its secondary school) is equally a good traditional reputable school, why must I choose St. Paul Co-ed or DBSPD for my son.  Making application to St. Paul Co-ed and DBSPD is only a precautionary measure to cater for the contingency that I failed to obtain a good school in the Lucky Draw.

My answer  given to Gorowitz previouslyalso applies to your 2nd question.  There I stated that I would prefer DBSPD instead of St. Paul Co-ed as I have the impression that the latter is a school for the noble class to which I don't belong.  Further, the school fee charged by St. Paul Co-ed is higher than DBSPD.

In respect of DSSs GENERALLY, I would supplement that I don't believe a school will suddenly become a magician who can change a mediocre into a genius once it changes to a DSS.

Finally, as to the choice of school for children, I think every parent has his/her own view, value and consideration.  You may take one's view as a reference only but not too serious.

Yes, you're right.  As DSSs are still subsidised by government with a fixed amount for each student every year (as far as I understand), then if either one of the two DSSs that I applied for had accepted my boy, I had to make a final decision at that time; for the DSS is obliged to report the acceptance of seats to the education department, and my son would be disqualifed from the Lucky Draw once he accepted the offer.  In such case, I would have accepted the seat and no longer rely on the Lucky Draw.  It is because having a bird in one hand is better than no bird.

The situation may not be the same for private schools.  Some private schools do not require the applicant to withdraw from the Lucky Draw but some do.  One of my son's classmates had enrolled with a private school but eventually got a traditional reputable government subsidised school in the Lucky Draw.  The parents of his classmate immediately gave up the seat in the private school.
