呢個係三大發鈔銀行,唔知係咪middle sized啦!
不過,呢個係話俾大家知,當周街牛劍三大,現在呢啲已經不 ...
哦哦!三大local bank, MT programme is now somewhat equivalent to graduate trainee in our old days (20+ years). Not enough exposure. One of these banks’ MT programme only have 1.5 years. Compared with 3 years MT programme with international placement scheme (in the past, it was called global/international management trainee, I forgot the exact title), the benefit and exposure is much much reduced.
The key to get into is firstly get into their summer internship in Year 3. If good performance, most of them can get return offer for MT.
Amongst these 3 banks, H and S have outsourced most of their middle to back office to regional processing centres. Their MT will mostly placed to sales (branches or corporate banking ).
The medium sized bank is 2nd tier local banks,I am not going to compare but I would just like to point out even smaller banks, MT would be also competitive as to the huge volume of students graduated from BBA or related programs.
Latest trend, banks are keen to recruit those students with some technical background to catch up the new wave of ‘innovation’, ‘FinTech’,’ ‘Regtech’, ESG and AI trends. You can read the news recently by DCE of HKMA Arthur Yuen urging for revamp of banks’ taskforce to meet the new challenges of AI era. Just a general BBA degree, may (if not must) not competitive now. I can tell you many many Master Degree graduates from both local and overseas good universities are competing for these MT programmes.
Just to share from most insider information, I know a person who knows the DCE of a ‘big’ bank in HK. ha guy refers his child to apply for the MT program in that bank. His child is a graduate of a famous US university and a MSc Finance in HKU. Still, cannot get the MT offer this year .
