Regarding dropping subjects, such scenario would happen in high ranking school lest the substandard performed students would jeopardize the overall ranking of the school. Personally, I disapprove such policy unless the school has rendered full support such as extra tuition to student throughout the whole school year but to no avail at the end.
A level refers to GCE A & AS Level exams for F.6-7 students while O level is IGCSE/GCSE exam for F.3-5 students. Triple science means taking three separate Phy, Chem & Bio subjects.
There are many exam boards such as Edexcel, AXA, OCR etc. It is up to school to determine and choose the exam board for the students. Edexcel is more easy to achieve higher marks.
Grade 9 is the most ideal year for overcoming culture shock, pondering for choosing favourable IGCSE subjects, making new friends, hea and play. Grade 10 is nearly the painstaking IGCSE year and no time to hea.
Two friends' kids with over 9A* and 12A* in this year's IGCSE started their studies in UK from Year 9. Both said that they would not have achieved such results if they went abroad at Year 10. |
