My boy passed the assessment :)

However, since I was honest in my application and stated that his grandparents talk to him in canto (who lives in Australia and only see him 2 weeks a year, but then there's no room to explain on the application), I think he's put in Cat 2. We knew before the assessment that we're already on the wait list, but they did state that he's pretty high on the list and would usually get a spot.

Given this is the final year ESF kids will get priority, I think many will hold onto their place and hence there'll be less availability for the kids on the waiting list. I am not putting all my eggs in one basket and will ensure the existing Kindie he goes to (which I love) has a spot for him ;)

Was he on the wait list before the assessment, or did they inform you only now? Did the school state on the latest letter that he passed the assessment or not?

jolalee  ~ yes, they did inform us that my son is on their waitlist before their assessment. But I think everyone would get the similar letter fm them.   Today, we got a letter fm them  to inform us that my son was sucessful at interview and he is on their waitlist.  But i got a question, do they really send out reject letter?

My wife laugh at me when I pronounced "ineapple Ma Ma" as "Borneo Ma Ma", I told my wife "Borneo Ma Ma" probably come from Borneo...    Not until I read this "ineapple" Opps~ Sorry for my bad Chinese.

My son is currently attending DMS- Discovery Montesorri School in DB, and shall graduate to their K1 equivalent Casa class this Sept. It's a great kindie but they do not have any primary affiliation, so if ESF accepts him that would be wonderful.
By the way, did their initial letter inform you where on the wait list were you located? They told us by random draw we were near the top of the wait list and ppl usually gets a spot in the end, but this year is kinda special so I'm not so sure anymore :(

Like what I mentioned in the previous message, I think everyone got the similar letter. Yes, they told me that we are at the top of their waitlist.  But I think the chance is really slim or hopeless.

Congratulations on your son passing the assessment. You mean even before you went for the play visit they already told you that if your son passes he would only be placed on the waiting list? Sounds like the number of applicants must be very high this year.

Last year the principal told us they received around 500 applications for 180 places, which wasn't that bad considering those famous local kindergartens consistently receive a few thousand applications for a similar number of places.

Oh really? When they say by past experience his chance is high, I believed them, but I guess this year is not like previous years. Anyhow we'll continue to try other through-train IS. Is your kid enrolled in or accepted by another Kindie at the moment?
