My two sons are studying in CIS, year 4 and reception. We are not alumni, debenture holders, siblings (both my boys were accepted this year) or staff. We have no connection at all. The school is looking for kids who are tri-lingual and very strong in mother tongue( in my case Cantonese). And I think they are looking for parents who can commit to school activities (class volunteer, library volunteer , school fair etc). CIS kids have very strong academic background especially English. Chinese and Math might be a bit lag behind but they will catch up eventually.
My friends who have kids in secondary told me that the MYP & DP materials are really hard, their kids have to study/work till 10-11pm every night. CIS kids are very gentle, polite
and independent. Although most of them are from wealthy family, they don't have the 港孩symptoms at all. I think it's because they have 3-4 days wild camp every year starting year 4, which is good training for the kids. And the school emphasizes so much in sportsmanship and their ethics 仁,義,禮,智,信.
It is a very good school and most importantly, my boys enjoy their school life. |
