My son is studying in SC Lower class. He has two homework exercises daily. However, for Chinese, he needs to write eleven times of  the same word. In \English, he needs to pronounce the sound and just write the letters for 8 times.
For maths, quite similar to Engilsh, some matching and wrting ( But less than 10 times).
My son usually spend less than 20 mins to finish his homework daily. I don't think that the work load is great.  
My neighbour's son is studying K.2 in Kentville.
He showed me his Homework Exercies which is more demanding than SC. When they write the Chinese word, nearly one word for 25 times. For English, it's quite similar.
I believe that the use of HW is to help the kids to revise what they learn in school. Too much drilling wil make the kids feel tired and bored.  
Try to think that a  4 years old kid spends more than 3 hours at school. After school, he needs  some time to rest and play.Not only SC, my friend's daughter is in K1, York. She has 2 homeworks per day very often.
For the extra English lessons, not only SC, please go to the Kid's Gallery to have a look. They are many kids from Kentville and Kingston as well. It's impossibe for a kindgarten to train the kids with different skills. Thus, parents will send their kids to join different activities.
Personally, I believe that happy school life is more important .

Interviews are required for applying 私立或直資小學.  So kids study in faumous kindergarten & good in English speaking may have advantage on "easier admission".  But Maryknoll is a subsidy school and subject to 政府派位....no differences for studying in SC, KV or else.

我個仔都好好彩呀! 兩間都收又係AM呀!
其實我己經決定讀ST.C而放棄根德,
因為本身佢都讀緊由外籍miss教,
所以相信佢入ST.C會較易適應.

我囡囡兩間都收,但我會選SC.

KV沒錯他是一間好學校(在傳統教學上),但是,你們有否了解過你的小朋友在其他方面的能力?KV本身是傳統教學方式,我覺得傳統教學只是注重在課本教學及太注重紀律,在學校裏可能不容許小朋友做一些超越老師所訂下的規範,如:老師叫只是畫一朵花就一朵花,小朋友不能畫一朵花以外的圖畫如草等,這樣是否會扼殺小朋友的創意?就算你說會安排小朋友到其他興趣班,但小朋友在學校時間長,興趣班只是一星期一堂,長時間在一個控制啟發的學校,久而久之小朋友只是你叫他做甚就做甚麼.

如果,你說是要為將來考名校安排,那你有沒有了解現在私校的面試不單是讀書要叻,還要其他配合如:要主動,有創意等.

我的囡囡經常會有很多問題問,我會解釋給她知.囡囡經常會去嘗試接觸其他物品,我會在安全情況下給她自己去嘗試,不會有過多控制,因為,我們發現囡囡在接觸過其他物品後,總會有其他的聯想,她給我們經常驚喜,我們不但想要一個乖的囡囡,還希望她在其他方面都得到很好的發展.

以上只是我的個人感受.

兩間都收了我仔仔am class.
我估我多數會選St.Cat.

我會畀個女讀根德園，她比較喜歡靜態學習，善觀察。
說也奇怪她自從in完根德園後她很喜歡這間學校。她經常跟我說：「媽媽，根德園會收我ga，應該。我好鍾意lee間學校。」
結果收了。
有一天和她去民生in，我教她讀：「民生書院」幾個字時。她說：「媽媽，我ng鍾意lee間學校，根德園收?我la!我ng讀lee間。」〔其實我從來無和她說去學校interview的事，只說去學校玩不明她從何得知。〕
收到sc封信後我跟她說：「津津，sc收?妳，你讀ng讀呀？」她說：「ng使la，根德園收?我la!」〔又係lee句〕
她自己選的，隨緣吧！

Can any parents who have child already studying in KV /SC share your opinions ?

1. Is that KV is so traditional that teacher need child to follow their instruction so strictly (e.g. ask them to draw a flower and no child can draw a sun ??)

2. KV don't have any teaching to build up child's confident or other aspect?

3. How do SC teacher do when they have more activity for student but at the same time they can build up student's academic  (you know somehow the parents also want their children go to famous primary school)?

I am also don't know how to choose the school.
