My daughter is studying in a activities kindergarten, the standard is lower than tradition.  

Canossa used to be requested the pupil do a lot of homework.  They said they will change to "activities learing" system in 2005. I wonder it is real? or just a ..........

When I call to check the class size in  June, I have spoken with the school principle, she told me the class size will change to 33 per class and running the class with activities learning.

I will send her school with myself, at least in the first year. I lives in along the tram way : very noisy.

I was so glad to see a topic with this subject heading!! Last year when I was making decision in the primary one school selection for my daughter I had also posted a topic like that but with no responses! May I now join in your topic to voice out some of my comments!

My daughter is now studying in the primary one PM class at Canossa and she seems to be happy about this school too. I don’t quite understand when BK mums were talking about the school management. Could you please describe more about this in detail or give some examples so that I can have a chat with the輔導老師when I got a chance. I am a working mother but I do sometimes take part in the voluntary work for the students. I did see a sister in the playground during recess time for several occasions. I do have to admit that some of the teachers are quite “old” but in another way you can say they are well experienced teachers. I can understand nowadays being teachers is not an easy job. Before the exam the class mistress even rang up and chat with me about my daughter to see how she was behaving and I was quite surprised that the class mistress was still performing her job after 10pm on Sunday. As a whole, this is not a bad school and in fact a good school within the eastern district. The discipline in this school is also good too. Of course there are always some students who are very naughty and come from families with working parents who seldom have a chance to pay attention to them. Just to correct those BK mums, the secondary school is not a directly-related school to the primary section. My recollection is that only those who come in the first 15 in the final exam can go into the secondary section only - it was almost 5 years ago but I think the principal will more or less be the same even for now. The level of English is above standard and a lot of the other schools are also using the same textbooks. Sometimes I do think it is a bit too hard for P.1 students who are so young to understand and memorise those complicated words! The only “not too good” thing is that my daughter is in the PM session and the morning will seem to be a waste! I am looking forward to the full-day class in 2008!

好開心見到有咁多嘉諾撒既家長, 我個仔今年讀2年級(本來3年, 因為留級) 記得當佢小一時, 真係俾佢D功課嚇死, 一日有6, 7樣...不過由舊年開始已經改左, 測驗考試都小左, 老師方面, 整體都ok, 不過好記得舊年教佢英文果個老師, 佢同我個話我個仔有問題, 好似有D slow learning 咁, 博命叫我同佢check下, 嬲到我死.. 如果佢真係有問題, 一早就有老師同我講啦, 我覺得佢根本針對我個仔, 我個小朋友果陣真係一講起英文堂就驚ga la, 不過今年無啦, 成績真係好過舊年, 考試默書都未試過唔合格

Sorry for the late response, I have not logged onto小學雜談for the last few days. By the way, you were asking about the method I used to help my daughter in preparing the dictation. All I can say is just memorise and practice dictating them after finishing her homework. 中文都係一有時間就同佢默
