The interview was very simple and pleasant.  The teachers only let the children play some toys and asked a few simple questions.  Mainly talked to the parents.  The teachers were very friendly, so don't worry.

Hi Pertra,

I can't answer all your questions because my son only started school for one week.  Maybe other mums can help you more.

My son cried a little bit in the past 3 days before he went to school bus, but the teacher said he didn't cry in school at all once he arrived school.  Today is the 4th day that he's going to school by himself, and he could already leave home with a happy face this morning, I believe the teachers must have done a very good job to settle down the children in the new environment.  I'm so happy to see him making an improvement in such a short time.

The book fees were reasonable (I forgot how much exactly, should be less than $2,000 for whole term or whole year??), there are not much misc fees so far.

There should be parent talk every year by the principal.

There should be English with NET and native PTH teachers everyday.  I must say there are so many native PTH teachers in the school, I can see them everywhere!!!

My son's class teacher is local teacher, but I have also already met the NET and PTH teachers for his class, they all seemed very nice and caring!

it's surprising that my kid didn't cry to get on the school bus either.  i'm sure that he likes to go to school coz he just urges me to go to school by taxi.  he just doesn't like the transport not the destination.  i also think the teachers have made effort to motivate their students to school.

wish both our kids can enjoy school from now on.

Hi! my girl is also in class K1A3(a.m.), nice to meet you all! My girl also goes to school by school bus. She didn't cry for the first 2 days, but start crying loudly till today. But the auntie on school bus tells me that she stops crying very soon after i leave. I'm not surprised about that, she uses to cry whenever she leave me, and stops crying right after i disappear, that's a normal behaviour patern of her. But i believe she loves going to school, and the class teacher also told me that she adapted quite well at school. I will go to the meeting this sat, see u.

Hello, my kid also attend the class of K1A3(a.m), may be we met at the open day before, happy to see you here.
After these two weeks, my son is very happy for his first school life, at home, he always find his books in the school bag and watch, it seems the teacher have their ability to increase their interest in reading. Besides, I also observe the staff of the whole school are very polite and sincere, even though the school workers to headmaster, it can have a good environment for them to growth.
One day at home, my son suddenly speak with PTW to us, but we didn't speak PTW to him from his lifetime, we were very surprise, initially we afraid he cannot catch up the PTW lesson as we havn't speak to him, but I think it was wrong.
Hope our kids can study happily in their school life.
BTW, I want to organize a facebook page to gather the K1 student this year. It can have closer relationship for us to obtain the information from each other as our kids will study together in the future 3 years.

hi, my kid also speaks putonghua sometimes to himself while playing.  it's very funny that he spoke 'good afternoon, children' in pth.  i laughed when he accidentally spoke that.  he was not greeting to anyone but he suddenly remembered that sentence.  
and he also says some complete sentences in english.  i found that he is trying to turn some vocabulary into sentences.  he said 'it is a fan.' instead of just said 'fan'.  
and he sometimes sings the songs he has learnt in school and dances while singing.  he's so funny.  i especially like the talent show held in the school birthday party each month.
hope all our kids enjoy school everyday.

Hi everyone...

Long time no see... have been really busy with work, and also finds it hard to locate this post, and sometimes the website doesn't allow me to log on etc... haha...

How's everyone's kids at CPKG?

My son is in pm class now, and i think he is adapting very well.  He will cry if it is my day off and i am taking him on the school bus, but if i am at work, my helper said he is very good preparing for school.  In general, he is very happy after he comes back from school, and last night, he said 1-7 in mandarin.. yeah!  It must be something he learnt at school as we never taught him mandarin at home.. hehe... so all is going well.

Are all your kids at am class?

by the way.. my son is in K1A1 (pm) now.  But if we didn't change his am class, then he would have been in K1A1 so still cannot be classmates with your kids... it seems like there's far less parents chatting on this forum from CPKG compared with other kindergartens like york for example.... wonder where all the parents are from this school? Maybe too busy working or something...

Hi Cherisa,

Is your son changing from another kindergarten?  He will be in the same class as my boy then... cool....  i know there's another classmate in his class who lives in 深井, and at the introductory days in september, i heard that they are catching 保姆車.  Maybe you should call the class teacher and i am sure they will know/ will find out for you.... his class teacher will be miss yu.

We live in tsuen wan, which is not too far from you... but we are catching the school bus, and it takes one hour to go to and from school... maybe the private buses will be quicker?  Hope this helps :)

Agree with you that not so many parents leave message here, but if you see the numbers of how many ppl see the post, there's a lot!!!
Anyway, my son is in K1A1(am) now, so could be your son's classmate if u didn't change the class for him...hahha

I agree that this topic is very quiet here.  My son is in K1A3(am).  Nice to meet you all.

I went to the parents meeting on Satuday and had good chats with the Chinese and English teachers.  The teachers are very nice and caring, they know my son well and can tell his characteristics clearly.

My son's Chinese is not good, so when I was talking to the Chinese teacher, I was quite worried because it appears he speaks a lot less than other children at the same age.  I think other children at his age can speak full sentences fluently, but he's still like a baby with short simple sentences.

But when I talked to the English teacher, I was a bit surprised that the English teacher said he actually talked a lot with her and speaks good full sentences and wide vocabularies..., I finally felt quite relieved that he's not really that behind, but only has his own language preference....

Anyway, I think my son is not good at playing with other children at same age.  I observe that he feels more comfortable with adults than with children, the teachers also said he prefers to sit and talk with teachers instead of talking to other children.  Is this normal at his age?  Are your children starting to make friends and play with children at their own age now??

I missed the parents meeting on saturday cos my husband and i both had to work... but the teacher said she would call me and discusss with me over the phone, so yet to see what she has to say.

My son's english was better when he was younger as we were living in australia, but since we came back to hong kong last year, his chinese has improved heaps but his english is worse now :(
He can speak chinese in full sentences, but english is just a few simple words which doesn't make up a full sentence, but at least my helper can understand him... so i guess it's just the opposite from your son :)

He likes to play with kids that he knows.... like if we hold gatherings with his previous pre-school's kids, then he will happily be playing with them.  But i notice that on his assessment from school, the social status always says needs to be encouraged.  So i have a feeling that he doesn't play much with the kids at school.... so i think it takes a long time for him to warm up with kids.  With adults, it's easier cos the adult will be talking to the kids first & warming them up, but kids all have their own mind sets and they don't know how to be friendly with other kids at the same age on their own, so they need an adult to sit them down and introduce them properly and start to play together etc....  which is hard at school cos the teacher is trying to teach them things like abc, going to toilet, eating afternoon tea... it's structured daily so makes it hard for them to play together i suppose?  I think it's normal for kids to like to play with adults, but i think they will eventually like to play with other kids their own age as they grows a bit older :)
