Hi AlanB,

We didn't recognize P1 students can apply for robot making class. I thought the class is for P3 or above student. Anyway, it is nice to try. Or I should say your Johnny is getting ready for any challenge. He is very unusual - Chess winner in the school all the time. My son is interested and love robot making very much. He is assembling model by himself. Next year, I will let him give it a try.

GT school is using Cantonese as teaching media for Chinese subject and non-english subjects in P1. From P2 onward, the Chinese subject will be in Mandarin.

During the orientation day, they do mention P5 and P6's teaching media will slowly change to English in order to match to its english secondary school.  Not sure how would it be. It is still too far away to my son.  But I do appreciate my son has 3 native english teacher classes a week to let him has more opportunity and not afraid to speak to western.

Wow I am really impressed about Johnny's ability to handle such a difficult task!  Making robot is an uneasy job for many senior students, not to mention a P.1 student!  As Chun-hei's mom said, Johnny is such an unusual boy, a chess expert at school!  Hope that Johnny can join the class and share more with us!  :)

Alan stated a good point about the maths problems on orientation.  Really the answers depends on the coordinate system used.  Anyway I didn't explain that to Adrian...I just assumed to take Adrian's face as the direction of reference.

Today earlier when I received the circular about swimming class, I was a bit regretful for joining the choir.  I always want Adrian to learn how to swim.  Anyway, we have missed the chance and maybe I have to arrange some other swimming class for him after this winter.  :~

今天收到校方通知，已取錄Johnny參加機械工程師課程。曾和陳主任溝通過，這個課程會先教導幼兒有關IC的知識和應用，第一個學生製成品將會是聖誕燈。

今天早會時公布1B班暫時成為全校秩序比賽最高分班級，我感到有些奇怪，因平時早會發覺他們並不特別安靜，得閒大家問吓囝囝囡囡平時上堂時的表現如何好？

下個星期五答應Johnny回校為萬聖節活動做義工，不知大家有否參加和如何為自己的囝囝囡囡化妝？

Congraturation ! "Mission impossible" but Johnny made it. I think it would be challenge for P1 student undersanding computer 01 logic but I sure it will not be issues for Johnny.

Hi Charis,
We didn't find the circular for swimming class yet and we would like Hei Hei to join the school swimming class as well. I thought it should be possible to join multiple classes in the same term. My son has been learning swimming for one and half year. He can swim more than 5 laps now. He will keep on learning swimming even in winter. It is good for him to have one sport playing continuously regardless of the seasons.

Hi all,

What a pity that I couldn't make it to come to school on the coming Friday!  I really hope that all kids will enjoy a fun fancy dress party.  Anyway I have prepared a Halloween costume for him, hope that he can put it on by himself.  

So good to hear that Johnny can enter the robot class, and Chun-hei is such a good swimmer.  Where does Chun-hei learn swimming?

Recently we have been involved in too many extra-curricular activities, e.g. Grasshopper, Choir, Drawing Class, English Class, Kumon Chinese and piano lesson.  Finally I am forced to cut some of his activities, hoping that he can deal with the rest.  @@"

Hi Charis,

My son learns swimming with private coach in public pool. Private coach can provide flexible time schedule that is easy to control. If you have time, you can goto public swimming pool(e.g. Kowloon Park). There are so many coaches there. You can observe and pick the best one easily.

My son also has so many extra-curricular activities. I try to reduce the amount of the activities but my son enjoys those activities and refuse to cut down yet. However, I am still trying my best to allocate every other Sunday as outdoor day. During that day,  we have to go out for picnic, hiking or museum visiting to let us have a break.

好高興，亦好嗟異我哋小朋友個班1B取得97分成為全校班制秩序比賽冠軍，明天星期四，陳家偉校長從澳洲參加完國際學術交流會議後回來主持早會時，將會頒獎給得獎班別，到時我或會拍下照片，PM給你。

Adrian已經成為歌詠團一分子，今天早會時看見他拿著中秋節時自制的燈籠，燈籠上面寫了很多字，字體很端正，是否你的教導？

Hi all,

I also feel surprised that 1B came first in the discipline competition.  As Johnny is one of the monitors, he must have done a good job!  Too bad that I have to go to work and hence cannot join any of the assembly.

Adrian was holding a lantern today?!  He didn't tell me anything.  Oh my...I never know what he wrote on the lantern.  He just copied the words from textbook, I guess...:)

To Chun-hei's mom,
You said that weekend's visits/picnics/hikings serve as 'breaks'?!  Oh how energetic Chun-hei is!  Outing with Adrian is a difficult task for me.  It is ME who don't have enough energy!

What a pity that I couldn't attend the Halloween Party...*cry*  I wonder whether I need to paint Adrian's face in the coming Friday morning or not.

My son accepted P.1 for next year.  May I know GT English standard good or not? I want to know more good or bed comment for GT school.  Thank you very much!

GT school is a Chinese primary school.  That means the textbooks/supplementary materials are written in Chinese.  However, there are 4 NET teachers and they responsible for 1/3 of the english lessons.
For Chinese lessons, the medium of instruction is Putonghua for P.2 or above.
For the future secondary school, the medium of instruction would be English and Putonghua.
My son studies in P.1.  So I'm not in a good position to comment on the english standard of the school.  But I am happy to see that the teachers are generally caring, polite and cheerful (despite the heavy workload), and the GT parents are willing to make contribution to the school in many aspects.

Yes, we use Chinese maths textbook.

I saw your another message on ICQM.  Last year my son was accepted by ICQM also.  But as we are not Christian, the religious atmosphere of ICQM is too 'horrible'(sorry to use this word) for us.

Hope you can know more about GT school, and your kid can enter a suitable school.

Hi all GT parents,

It's near the end of the test week.  I really don't have time to prepare with Adrian at all.  Only spend 10 minutes (or less!!) to go through dictation with him.  What makes it worse is that Adrian lost his Chinese textbook on Tuesday!  He finally got it back today, but it's too late.  Other parents told me that the test paper will be distributed back later.  Maybe we can only know their 'real' performance by that time!

Instead of revising textbooks/exercises with Adrian, I spend time to read with him.  We received "Yellow Pudding" and "Story Box" earlier this week.  I read few stories with him and we really enjoyed the time.

Besides, I need to urge him to practise piano everyday.  He still needs me to stay with him while practising.  Don't know when he'll know how to practise seriously.

My son got the acceptance letter from GT for 2005 P1.  I get all information of the school from its introductory seminar only. Would you mind, from your experience, telling some more about the school, such as its teaching mode, teachers, workload, examinations, or, any aspect you want to tell.
