I wonder how to control the guest number, all come or only half come, the difference is quite big.

I'm considering whether to hold a party for my boy.

Agree Agree.  My boy's bday will be in June and i am planning to have a party for him too.  Headache is the venue....Hope you all will 賞面 lah.

Yes, the invitation card has RSVP with the mother's mobile no.  I called the mother and left message to confirm our attendance.  

I read the leaflet given by McDonald that day, listing out price of their parties.  It 's quite flexible.  only $150 minumum charge and food charged separately, depend on order of guests so I think if in McDonald, no. of guests do not concern much gei.  If other places with very high minimum charge, perhaps no. of guests is really a problem.

My son's BD is also in June, still have some time to prepare.

If inviting whole class, i.e. 25 student + parent, that will be 50 people or more, depends on 1 parent or both parent or any brothers/sisters.
In case all come with both mama and papa, that will be at least 75 people. I'm afraid it will be too crowded in McDonald.
The above numbers does not include our own friends.
So, if inviting classmate, need to look for other venue I think. A bit headache.
Was the party you joined held in McDonald? How many classmate joined?
Do I think too much?

Yes ah. The party we joined was held at McDonald at 皇室堡.  I didn't feel that it's crowded bor.  Nearly 20+ boys there, but most come with only 1 parent (or maid).  They arranged the tables like a 'U' shape and in the centre there's an open space.

I think McDonald is a suitable place.  Nearly all children like its food lah and the staff can lead some games.  If you worry the space limit, perhaps you can call them (or check their website) to check check the max. capacity of all McDonald to find out the biggest one.

1) As understood they will accept K2 student, when will they release the application form, eg. Sept 06;

2) What type of questions they will ask during the interview;

3) how many classes for both am and pm session;

4) how do you find the kinder, tough but happy or happy and easy learning

Hello Chelsea,

1. Form distributed in every Feb each year. Notice in Jan.
2. Kids will be interview alone.
3. 4 am class (K2) and 4 pm class (K3)
4. Happy and not very difficult.

Thanks for writing me back and provide the info.  Frankly my kid will going to K1 this year and I would like to let him has a try to apply in St. Jo. for his K2.

Further questions,

1) how did the interview go, seldom to hear people having tips for this kinder, any sharing on the tips

2) he born in May, not small/big child but middle, any chance at all

3) any focus subject, say English or Writing skill

hi all st. joseph mami..... my brother's two sons (P.1 & K.3) study in st. joseph .... one case happened in this month, their grandma ( my mother) told me that a woman ( look polite and long hair) tried to take her grandson away from the outside of the school.

It was a rainy day.... when the students got off the school bus, that woman used an umbrella to cover the kid and said that she helped him to school..... but she hold his hand and went to another side..... luckily.... the kid said "no" very loudly.... so the woman ran away.

That's a real case, and my mother said the outside situation of the school is always very mess when school buses /private school buses arrivied ,if your children sit school bus .... told them not to follow/talk with any stranger !!!

Thanks safarimama.  This sharing is important to us all.  My boy takes the private school bus and  i will talk to the bus lady to make her aware of this too. Also, yes, should teach our sons not to follow nor talk to stranger.  Woody is sick and having fever these 2 days.  Take good care of your kids too, the virus is very serious everywhere these days.

Hi Chelsea,
1) your boy will be interviewed by the teacher in a seperate area and parents are required to wati outside. They will be interviewed by answering questions via pictures. My boy was asked to do some pictures matching as well.  The process took only 5 minutes' time
2) I believe outlook is not that important but to what i know, SJ is a very discipline-oriented school and believe that if your boy behaves well and be polite, that will score mark from teachers
3) no writing is need.  Teachers speak Cantonese

Thank you for your sharing. I am so afraid .My son also take the school bus. Do you know the helper  of school bus and the  school teacher know this terrible thing happened in this month.

Waaaaa........ so terrible !!!  Nervous now !!  
My son takes school bus to school everyday gar.  It this is a real case, I think school bus company should be informed of such cases so their staff (bus helper + staff outside school to help) will be alert bor.
Let me talk to the bus helper tomorrow morning.
