How about DSS school? They also have certain percentage of old girls / old boys with admission advantage, but so? Even those alumni with extra 10, they are not guaranteed with allocation, they still have to compete with all those with 20 pts because of religion / first born but without alumni relationship. And don't forget, the majority of the allocation are by lucky draw, i.e. 50% of those seats are for public. So in the end, the percentage of seats given to alumni could be sustantially low due to lots of ppl claim "the same religion" and many sibling Like my boy's school, there are some alumni had to knock door because they failed with 20 pts.
Still not fair? To many ppl, alumni relationship is the only "relation" that they could use for their children P1 admission under such fierce competition. Everyone could make use of this relation for their children, it's just many give it up and wanna choose another school. Why isn't this a fair play ground given everyone can use this 10 pts? My hubby didn't study in HK primary school, zero extra points but he pays a lot of tax too!! And so....I never complain this is unfair. Gov't already guarantee every child will have a P1 seat, it's just if you like it or not.
