I haven't paid the debenture yet coz my son is not their student at this moment.  I fully understand the reason for the drastic increase in the debenture and school fee, but I cannot foresee how rapid the rate will be in the coming years. I will be relieved if the school could openly release the expected amount in the coming 3-5 years so that we couldhave better planning. My friend has told me that the school will have big big increase in the school fee in 2010.  The school has told them before and asked the parents to get prepared.

It's very likely that we will let my son study at ESF kinder first and make the decision later when he study at the primary session.

Dear lenglengma and other mami in ICS,
Hi all! I need your advise!
I heard of ICS for 2 years and I wanted my son to study there. But they only accept those kids who born before sept 1st for the current school year. (my son born at sept 14th 2004) So my boy is now studying in int'l school for K1. Then I got a chance to interview in coming 14th Feb. I'm struggling whether should I go for interview (eventhough people said consider only when my boy got acceptance!) But if they accept my boy, he has to repeat K1 = R1. I really like this school but I'm not sure if I should repeat a year for him or not. What do you guys think? I'm a christian and I really afraid of the others int'l school (in terms of moral, value etc when they grow up like high school level) And I feel like ICS students are more "pure", at least they try to educate them bible and christian's value. I'm think this is more important than a year older than his classmate. But I'm afraid if there's any chance he need to repeat a school year in later years when he's bad in academic! (just concerning!) What should I do? Is ICS really really good? Teachers? Learning atmosphere?
Beside, there's one more matter I need to consider. Since my son is a "active" and not quite listen to teachers sometimes. He's difficult to settle in the school. He's just starts telling me that he like school now and the teachers are getting use to handle his behavior matter. So I just wondering if ICS teachers are able to handle it well too. It take times for both teachers and my boy to settle down. So it makes me worry if I should transfer school for my son too.

Hi Patbee,

It always seems to be a hard decision for parents with kids born at the end of the year to decide when to let their kids start school.  Some prefer letting their kids be the big kids and wait till the following year while some others want their kids to give it a try so that they can be ahead of others.   

If your boy is moving to a different school, I wouldn't say that he is repeating R1 for what's being learnt in the new school may not be the same as that in his present school.  It really depends on you and your son.  My daughter's kindie classmate (born after Sept) was admitted to R2 in ICS, after completing K2 in another kindie when my daughter, born in the middle of the year, was admitted to Pre-1.  There're quite a few children in my daughter's class who were born between Sept and Dec.  So it's really a matter of choice. I'm sure you'll be able to make a wise decision after evaulating the pros and cons.

My son is invited to attend an assessment next week. He is currently studying at a local school.

Anyone knows about the format, difficultities, etc.
As for parents interview, anyone knows what to be discussed.

May any ICS parents share about interview for kindergarten? I'm a bit nervous since my English is not very good. Is it a matter? Besides, I've stated the turth that my girl use mainly Cantonese at home (since the application form stated that the 'most') , I think her English is not bad and can communicate with Westerners.

I've asked their staff that about 1-2 weeks parents will know the result. How is your interview? Is the teachers nice?
May I know that will they interview the parents or just the children?

Hi Hoeve,

They are group interview (3-4 child) principal will talk to
parents frist. Some test for child (sorting, counting and story time). Principal and teacher so nice, i hope they will accept my son. But i so worry, my son exhibit so bad, principal ask him some question, he just say "NO" and singal word

Thanks for your reply. I heard from their staff they still have vacancy. Just relax. I'm sure that teachers don't mind to hear a little boy saying no (it's normal for a 2-3 years old). I agree that their staffs are so nice. Last week I met a guard and a lady from the office. Both are really nice and friendly. I'm very impressed by ICS. I hope my girl can study in such an excellent school.

I hope all your kids can study at the ICS. Mrs. Van Hoy, Principal of the ICS-K, and all teachers there are very nice and professional educators. They can offer you a place if your kid is really able to do so. Please don't worry about this and be patient to wait for the reply letter.

Of course, they don't consider this point. Last year, there was a R1 child who lived in Central of HK Island. As I know, someone told me that there are ICS students who live in Cheung Chau Island. So ICS just only considers an ability of a child. Pls. don't worry about that. If your child is able in English teaching environment, I believe that ICS would like to accept your child to study there.
