SK1,

I have the same question like youngmami, why you need to change school whereas you boy's current school is similiar to SJ?

I didn't send my boy for any ECA yet.  May be when he reaches six, he will start learning piano or some other musical instruments.
I might need to think about joining some!

My boy loves to draw.  So I bought him plain stekch books.  He loves to draw vehicles. He can keep drawing the whole afternoon.

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

My hobby & I also the teacher saying but she speak so fast & we just focus the result.    ....So.....But fortget it, it doesn't matter. As I remember the subjects is the non acedamic ( same as youngmami talking) I also think the ECA but no good one near my home. It is a problem for me to take care he to go out. My maid is not the suitable to do so. She don't talk or playing with him.

He is okay lah. i think the school do have a record of the 'ming chi' but not telling us.  I heard some of the parents said so while waiting for interview.  However, this is not important at all. right :)

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

Some parents told me that SJ is not keen on giving kids extra acitivites, even though in Primary school. Therefore, i have found some for my boy lah.  He's learning swimming since 3 because his health was weak before but now, after 1.5 years, he is very strong lah.  I studied children psychology before and find that children before 7, have a great capacity to learn many things at the same time. My son joined quite a lot of acitivities now and i plan to select some which he's interested after 7 as his lifelong hobbies.  It's strange that you will know more about your kid's strength and weakness during those programmes. Musikbox and KinderU are quite good for learning music and english/mandarin (in causewaybay). If anyone is interested, they have the website. My boy loves these 2 places very much very much.  Is anyone's kid joining Kumon now?

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

Dear SJ mums,

I've just obtained a K2 enrolment form for my son.  I would be most grateful to know more about the curriculum of SJ, like what kind of  lessons do the kids attend every week, what is volume of their daily homework and what textbooks are they using?

Grateful to have your comments.

If your target primary is St. Jo, it's good for your son to study also at its kinder coz he can get used to St. Jo style at an earlier stage.

I heard about the KinderU as well.  Some of the BK mammies let their children join it since 3 months old!!! But the fee is expensive!

Sometimes I ask my hubby whether or not we should send our boy for other courses, he said why not let him enjoy a bit when he is still little.  I doubt.....

I had the same query last year.  However, exactly like you, I like their primary school!!

Hi Leung_i,

Really fee very expensive ??

You husband is correct.  I also think 'happiness' is most important for kids.  So I only let my son to join activities he likes.  Once he complained that activity, I would try my every effort to boost his interest, if still failed, we would quit.
If your boy likes drawing, why not send him to some drawing classes for a trial, say 1 month.  In drawing class, he can learn a bit more technique so he can draw more beautifully (though I guess your son is already good at drawing    ).
And I also think for kids, at least some sports are needed, but not necessarily joining classes, if you can do it by yourself.

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

Dear all mammies,

Recently my boy keep asking me questions about "DEATH"!!

He cried and cried upon this topic many times.  He doesn't want to "die", as well as others.  I tried to explain to him that it is a MUST, but still in vain.

He starts worrying, at the age of 5!!!HOW? HOW? WHAT CAN I DO???

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

He learnt Mandarin in KinderU. Yes the tution fee is quite high but i have compared with some other mandarin learning centers and i think it's worth still. Two hundred something for 1.5 hr.   Besdies of learning the language, they teach the kids a lot of chinese words.  There are many games designed for the programme. So far, my boy enjoy it. I was told that in SJ primary, Mandarin will be taught and seems they are quite serious at this subject too.  Some of my neighbous' sons are in Primary now, in order to get better school result for Mandarin, they even employ private teacher and cost $400 per lesson..my god !! therefore, i decide to let my boy to learn Mandarin earlier lor...

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

Hi leung_i,
Um, this is a normal reaction as your boy thinks that death means 'ending'.  If one is died, he will lose all the things he has now and therefore he's scared.  Try some books for help.  I saw some books teach parents how to explain death to children. May help.

Hi, HPma,

Thanks!

He is better today in terms of stop asking the same old question.  He started this topic since he read his sister's book, "Uncover The Human Body".  There is a skeleton inside.  Actually it is just explaining how the rib cage looks like, blood circulation and the organs.  He doesn't want to look like that!!

He is really a "question" boy!!!!

Re: ST. Joseph kinder

Last Saturday joined a birthday party of my son's classmate.  Wa Wa Wa          For the first time I witnessed the 'crazy, creative' but exceptionally happy gathering of St. Jo boys !!
Amazing !!
Also for the first time I am 100% sure that choosing a boy's kinder is a correct choice for my son.
Hope all boys will be promoted to Primary all together and continue their happy happy school life !!

Hi youngmami,

May I know through what channel you receive the invitation? Through teacher or how?
