My baby born in Aug 2004 and we applied HKPS last year.  The interview held around dec (my son was about 16 mths at that time).... I think the interview was quite difficult at his age ..... e.g. the teacher put some toys on the table and asked the baby to choose, she asked where's daddy, mammy, where's your nose etc...... In fact, my son didn't respond her much.... the teacher also asked parents some questions, like who take care of the kid, what will you do with the kids on holiday, did the kids attend any playgroup etc.

Before the interview, each parent had to fill in a questionaire... questions like how to deal with the kids when they're angry, when they're being hit in the school... what's the expectation of the KG etc.  I guess the questionaire was also part of the selection criteria.....

You can call to request a visit (I did that last year and took a visit to HKPS and Keenmind before I submit the applications) .  My boy will study in anglo-chinese class in Shatin HKPS (coz we moved to Royal Ascot recently).... For local class, there will be 20 mins mandarin lesson every day

sorry for confusing you, anglo-chinese = local=中英文斑.....

I only apply HKPS at Shatin, coz I like the one in Shatin more than KLT after visiting both.... at that time, I considered HKPS Shatin and Keenmind (it's also good).....

The interview was conducted in Cantonese + English.

我好認同你講法, 你囝囝和我囝囝都應是細囝, 1歲多要佢比乜野反應人丫, 我真係好擔心.
There are babies born in Jul to Aug every year, they can manage to get places in nusery / kindergarten.  I don't think you need to worry, and definitely no need to pressure, schools are intented to see babies' response and behaviour and I truly believe they'll make it fair amongst babies with different ages.


Anyway, 係咪佢地最終都收左你囝囝? 我想問, anglo-chinese class = 國際班 (英普班)? local class = 中英班?
anglo chinese = 中英班, int'l = 國際班 (英普班)
suggest u to flip through this thread or some other info related to this topics in babykingdom.

另, 你interview時係咪kowloon tong 樂基呀? in小朋友時會用英/普/廣(邊種語言?)

Can you advise which HKPS your daughters studied? Are the one at Royal Ascot = the one at Kowloon Tong? I visited HKPS's website and it does not mention the HKPS at Royal Ascot.........

3) 我大女個班有三個班主任, 一對10, 一個英文NS(native speaker), 兩個國語, 無錯, 開學時有個國語老師唔係ns,我一聽就知, 但係好有教學經驗(超過十年), 好細心, 好有愛心, 不過可能佢唔係ns的關係, 做左無耐就走左, 跟住請左個北京師範大學的老師, 當然好正宗啦, 所以我覺得學校呢方面都幾認真。

個人對呢間學校評價很好, 我同其他媽咪都好認同校長的方針, 我個女過去一年學到好多野, 可以同我用簡單英文溝通, 識聽我講國語, 識自己睇簡單故事書, 識用國際音標讀生字(當然依家識好少, 不過好少有幼稚園教),學校教佢一字馬同打筋斗, 總之我同我老公都好滿意過去一年的學習。

最後我要讚兩件事:
1) 學校的員工很nice, 尤其reception AMY, 佢可以記得所有學生的名字, 而且好關心小朋友同好helpful  
2) 個portfolio好好, 唔係一般的comments, 係老師將我個女的上課片段紀錄, 以文字表達加上老師的分析, 令我覺得佢地好細心, 我睇過其他學校既, 所以我好欣賞樂基的工作, 所以我細女都讀, 而且我都介紹左唔少朋友去讀, 呀, 有家長話好似係人都收, 其實唔係, 因為去年我大女考時, 有好幾個同期interview既唔收, 而今年我有兩個朋友報都要waiting, 因為佢地小班, 所以唔可以收太多。

I wonder what is the different between KLN Tong & Shatin one? space? teachers? Cause I live in SAI KUNG both are simliar distant to my BB.

My don is studying in P1 class in Kowloon Tong, 2 teachers for a class.  In the first of week when I attended with my son, I also thought  it's a bit disorder,it's because too many parents there.  
My son is very happy to go to school now and he know the names of most teachers, although he is studying in Angelo Chinese, when my sister speak in Putonghau, he can response and follow.  Now he can speak short sentences of English too.
I met some of ex-student's mum, they said graudates from HKPS have high standard of English.
