新小拔與舊小拔有何分別?

明年入讀舊小拔的學生將不能保證入大拔,相信即使能成功入讀舊小拔,他們的家長也很難避免不為此擔心。
之前入讀舊小拔的學生家長可以放心許多,因為有85%可以入讀大拔,但今天入表舊小拔的學生家長就會為兒子能否入大拔掛慮至少六年了。除非不介意兒子是否能入大拔,否則不難想像這六年家長和學校如何催谷他們孩子,竭力保持孩子在舊小拔中名列前茅。

Adsolutely agreed with LilyMaMa 's point of view

If just for short-term prospect, I think nobody would query that 拔萃小學是一間高質數的學校(包括學生)，nevertheless I deeply believe what most BK parents care about and concern is the long-term prospect of their kids.

In fact, all those who are now studying at DPS are much looking forward to entering DBS after their primary school, and that is also explaining why so many parents have tried their best to make pave for their kid to enter DBSPD if possible.

Therefore If a kid is really so lucky that he has been accepted by both DPS and DBSPD, I doubt whether there is any reasonable parents who would really bet on their kid's future in order to witness "留待時間的証明" by choosing DPS rather than DBSPD.

Look at it this way, if DBSPD gets to pick their own students thru interviews but DPS cannot.

As a government subsidized school, DPS has not been able to pick their own students for the past 6 years (I believe Haohao or another parent stated that only 2-3 students admit the school thru interviews per year), and is still able to maintain the high standard.

So, what was the factor changed since then that affect the student quality?

小拔今年改用英國 Collins 的 textbook (P. 6 除外)，而且係用晒成套 Collins。

以前則用主要新加坡、甚至印度的 textbook，用同級或高一級的。只有一本 Listening 係 Longman ，不過用高兩級的。

你問我點睇，我暫時覺得新舊兩組英文課本程度上差不多，可能新書輕輕淺過以前，不過就因為新書係用晒同一出版社同一系列，所以比較有系統。

另外有感而發(本來我都很少就大小新舊拔發言).....大家其實不必太著重於甲學校同學校的比較，更不應只憑「不能直上大拔」而太早下結論睇死舊小拔。

反正全港三四百間小學中，就只得「新小拔」一間可以直上小拔，難道其餘的三四百間小學都不比新小拔的程度嗎？

不能入大拔就無法入另一間好的中學嗎？難道全港就只有大拔一間好中學？

如果因為「脫鉤」而硬要說「舊小拔」的程度比「新小拔」的程度差，恕我只能承認可能只有「中國語文」一科吧！

另外，新小拔其實的確一直希望用所謂外國0個套，比較自由，比較冇乜功課咁，只是有些慕「外國0個套」之名而讓小朋友考入或插班的家長又最終無法「適應」新小拔版本的「外國0個套」，甚至聯名要求學校和老師多給家課和在課堂內外多如嚴格管治學生。就算冇份投訴新小拔家長都應該發現今年每個老師都對學生好嚴，同家課明顯多左過去年。今年剛開學一個月，又輪到其他家長將要投訴太嚴太多家課了！

I have a question in relation to the admission to DPS.

If I am not wrong, DPS has always been a government subsidised school.  In the circumstances, admission of primary students (P.1) is governed by the prevailing policy laid down by the Education and Manpower Bureau.

In other word, most students are admitted either through relationship or point system in the 1st round allocaltion of places.  For instances, an applicant can, and must, be admitted because of his elder brother is already studying there, or one of his parents is a full-time staff of the school.  The remainders, if any, come from the 'luck draw' game at the 2nd round of central allocation.

If my perception as aforesaid is correct, it seems to me that no conncection exists between the admission of a student and his capability.  Of course, the same case also applies to La Salle Primary School, which is also a government subsidised school.

係呀！DPS一直都係津校 每年除了有兩三個位係經面試入之外，其他六十幾個位都係經「計分」、同「大抽獎」入嫁。係咪有野想問

Having considered how DPS’s students are admitted, I have a further question.

We all know that DBSPD is a direct subsidised school.  In this connection, I am given to understand that pursuant to the current policy, once the offer to an applicant is accepted, the school has to inform the Education and Manpower Bureau.  The result being that the eligibility of the applicant concerned under the central allocation scheme will be abolished.

With the aforesaid in mind, I shall be obliged if KatieM1203 or any parents whose kid had the honour of being offered a seat by both DPS and DBSP will enlighten me as to:-

(i)        how possibly could your boy get the privilege of being offered a seat by both DPS and DBSPD simultaneously; and

(ii)        the way through which he obtained the offer from DPS.
