Learning Cantonese shouldn't be hard, reading Chinese is.  Let them meet Cantonese-speaking friends.  Take them to the library and read Chinese stories to them.  One of you start speaking Cantonese to them may help too.

The head teachers of the 2 K1 afternoon classes this year are Mrs. Ngan and Ms. Lau. There're 2 assistant teachers in each class as well. Mrs. Ngan is not Chinese but I don't know her nationality.

Really?  When I called them in June, they said the fees were $700.  Perhaps because there're not enough children?

I can't really describe how the teachers are but most of the teachers there are very experienced and have a passion about children.  I haven't had any personal experience with them but my daughter is happy with them. If you are interested in the school, why don't you go and take a look.  You may observe what the children do in the classroom and have a better feel about the atmosphere and the teachers there.

My kid is doing K1 right now at KBCK, but I may want him to go to ESF International Kindergarten starting from Jan 2006. Actually I paid a lot for the deposit already in June 2005 before my kid started his K1 school at KBCK.
I'm not saying that KBCK is not good. No doubt is KBCK a quality school! It's just because of the connection of ESF primaries --- my main concern.
May I ask if any K1 kids of KBCK will change to ESF Kinder (Tsing Yi) in Jan 2006?

I also had the same feeling as you when I first visited KBCK. Some assistant teachers do not speak with very 'good' ("native") English accent. But they are very experienced. The most important thing is that all the kids there do actually use English to communicate with one another.

Hi Fannychoi,

I paid a deposit of $8600 something in June already to reserve the place. But KBCK seems to be very good. My worry is that ESF primaries may put me on the "blacklist" in the future if I decide to give up the place offered by ESF Kindergarten now...

Do you have confidence that your daughter can enter the ESF primary when she turns five ?  ESF primary still offer priority to those who studying in ESF kinder.

Then would you mind sharing which kindergarten you want to put your second daughter into in order for her to enter ESF primary when she turns five?

I saw someone in the other topic saying that last year about 50% of ESF kinder graduates failed in getting into an ESF primary......if that was true, it is pretty discouraging.

I went to school on 18Sept, to do a helper, that is so much fun. Because I knew my children is good or naughty in school, and I can asked the teacher so many question about my children, and what did they do in the class, whose children they play with, and what craft they did, etc.... Sandrine your daughter is good in the class, did she told you that Natasha mama went there?
