sandyhung, my daughter is 2 years and 3 months old now, so she'll be too small to enter K1 this year.

She just started her PGI class this Feburary when she turned two.

I'm looking for some summer classes for her too.  Heard that there'll be some courses organised by the club house. Don't know whether there'll be any courses suitable for their age.

Pls share your choice when you've decided which course to join .

Can your daughter speak?  Would you like her to join the piano course?  
I just applied the 'Seven Color Piano' for my son in Park Central.   After six months, he can study piano Grade 1.   He doesn't need to wait until 4 yrs old.
The course is suitable for 2 - 3 yrs old.

Tks for your info. on summer courses.  The course of 7 color piano sounds great.  But my son has been attending Tom Lee's music course so we will not attend any other music course for the time being.

How old is your son ?  Some ppl say that children would be better to start piano training from 4 yrs old because only at that time their finger muscle would become strong enough to strike the keys.  I agree because I tried to hire a personal tutor about 6 months ago to teach my son piano (at that time my son was 3 yrs 8 months) but it was very obvious that at that time, my son's fingers were not strong enough and he's also not mature enough to concentrate on what the tutor said about the names of notes, etc.  

2 months ago in Tom Lee's YAMAHA classes, tutor started to teach playing piano (start with simple do-re-me-fa-so, use 5 fingers).  This time my son can learn all and show interest.  The results are much more better than 6 months ago.

The above is only our personal experience.  Sometimes it may also depend on the level of maturity of the kid.

I applied Tom Lee's YAMAHA classes as well, but my son is on waiting list and need to wait around 1 yrs.   My son is 2.5 yrs old now.  I also understand that my son might not concertrate in learning at this age.   As my son is very active and I feel quite tired to take care of him , I want him to spend his energy in learning.   
Actually my sister-in-law doesn't agree with me to let my son to join some course at this age, but as you may know, any parent do not want their child to be a dragon.   Anyway, I will not give up & I believe that nothing is impossible.

You should wait for 1 yr so long at Tom Lee ?  Which branch did you apply for ?  TaiKooShing Branch ?  I remember when we applied for YAMAHA Wonderland course (for 3 - 4 yrs), we only waited for about several weeks after application submitted, but of course it's the weekday class (not weekend).  Now my son is in YAMAHA JMC (for 4 - 6 yrs) at TKO branch.  1 month after we applied it, we rec'd confirmation and this time it's weekend class.

Though we attended both Wonderland and JMC, I don't think they are related.  So your son can join other music course first and directly join JMC at TKO branch when he's 4-yr old.  Hearsay it's easier to get weekend class place at TKO branch than other branches.

I support you and of course don't give up.  In fact I think 2.5 yrs kid can understand and do a lot so it would be definitely useful to let him to join some classes for his age, eg. music, playgroup, etc.  My son started playgroup (use Kindermusik curriculum) since 1-yr old.  He learnt a lot there and enjoyed the interaction with other kids.

Yes, I really need to wait around 1 yrs.  I applied 'Yamaha Music Wonderland Preparatory Course' at Kln Bay branch, as TKO branch do not hold this course.  As I heard from Tom Lee's staff, some parents applied the course when the baby was 18 months old.  It looks like crazy!

May 8, 2005 is the first lesson for my son to study ‘SEVEN COLORS PIANO COURSE’.   The course is one-to-one, but one of the parents can get inside the room together with the child.   It might be the first lesson; my son didn’t want to answer to the teacher.   So, I led him to answer all the questions even he answered wrongly.
The first lesson is to teach the child to distinguish high sounds & low sounds and the teacher gave me the course materials as well.   After reviewed the course materials, this course looks like quite good.  I believe that the teacher will let the child to learn Music gradually, and then she will teach him how to play the piano.  Of course, I cannot expect the child to play the songs fluently by piano after the first lesson.  I will wait that day patiently.

Your son sounds very much like mine.  He's also 2.5 yrs and very active.  I find it quite hard to teach him and it's very tired.  Is ur son attending nursery?  My son has attended nursery for 3 months.  The music course seems very interesting, can u share more with us after ur son has started the course?  I'll go to Park Central to have a look.

My son has attended Deborah International Play School for 6 months.  May 7 is Parent's Day, his teacher said that he's quite good & popular among his classmates but he's losing of control.  It's quite shy for me to hear about this.  
He's really very active, but he's shy when facing the stranger.  Actually there have a lot of course for 2.5 - 3.5 yrs old child in TKO.   If any further I know about the piano course, I will keep you posted.

I emailed the course material to you already, but the size of the file is 3 MB.  I'm not sure if you can receive it.  If you can't receive it, I suggest that you can open an email address at yahoo.  The size of mailbox is 1 GB.
If you want to join Tom Lee class, you need to go there to register first.  Otherwise, you might wait more longer than me.
