CKY vs RC how would you compare?

侄女在RC, 她是初中回流後插班入讀的.  聽她說, RC學習氣氛愉快, 同學中叻人好多, 但大都不是死讀書的那類, 好多都好玩得.  侄女今年grade 12, 準備升大學了, 她並不是學業成績出眾的學生, 但申請的英國大學, 已拿了好幾間conditional offer在手, 其中一間還是她心儀的又非常好的, 雖然仍只是conditional offer, 她也高興到當晚就睡不著.

小兒和小女正在 RC 小學部就讀, 在 RC 一起陪伴孩子成長已有數年。
無何否認, 在學校裡認識的家長, 大部份也訴說不清楚學校的課程, 有些亦有後悔把小孩送來這裡學習。

聽到這樣的說話, 我替那些小孩很心痛。

教育不是學校的全責, 所以在學期初, 學校便有 three ways conference, 讓老師、家長、學生，一起定下來年學習方向和目標。  在小學部 office 門口旁, 亦有把各級課程張貼出來, 並且註明那範圍或題材是現正學習中。 另外, 各班亦有自己的 weebly, 詳列各科在該學年的學習範圍, 老師亦會定期 upload 學習進度, 如家長真的想了解, 絕對不難, 但敢問又有多少位真的有看看。  再者, 在初小階段, 老師是歡迎家長回校作 parent volunteer, 不管是定期或偶爾參與也可以, 目的是讓家長明白多些他們的學習形式。

我認識有些家長, 常常訴說小孩不會和他們說學校的事情, 我覺是因為小孩認為和父母不是同步而行, 試問對着一對局外人, 要一個小孩報告整天的學校生活, 確實是一大難題, 真的不知從何說起。 結果, 那些家長便認為小孩在校沒有學到什麼, 有些人後悔, 有些便乾脆送小孩往補習社𥚃去。

RC is an IS and CKY is a LS. Curriculum might have some similarities but students mix, teachers nationalities, school culture, parents mindsets are 2 different worlds.

唉呀，RC同CKY都是private independent school, both need to admit at least 70% local students

At capacity, 70 per cent of students enrolled must have one parent with Hong Kong Permanent Resident status.

各有各特式！若想中文比較強，CKY會理想一點。若鍾情國際學校模式，我想RC會接近多些。

RC的演譯是:

Not exactly "RC的演譯", but the actual definition of "local students" is indeed "students having hong kong permanent resident status", as appeared government documents.

又不能一刀切，2014年RC有4成學生考中文language A, 又有4成考中文B(大部分考中文B SL 和中文AB)，應該話中文水平落差較大，而CKY好似全部考中文A

You can get a sense looking at the % bilingual diploma figure for the relevant schools. Just remember that there are more than one way to get bilingual diploma, i.e. other than taking Chinese A. For last year, CKY was at 85% and RC was at 43%.

This is a forum, where we all hope that parents can share views and information in a fair and open manner. You are entitled to your rights of sharing your experience. Whatever you feel or think is of course valid according to you stance. No one has ever said what you claimed here is wrong. So is there a reason why you are suspecting anyone would "打我的手" or "打手上身"? I have been extremely polite when posting comments or questions here. Is there any reason why I should be judged?

I wouldn't compare them. Both are different in many ways and both are good and no one will be able to tell you which school is better for your child. Why not just choose the one that is closer to you. Or ask your kid to make the decision if you are ok with both schools.
