I have read about this Mandarin system too in Singapore. Seems very good.

Attended a parents' seminar on Zhonghua Zijing. This is doman system applied on teaching Chinese. It focuses on recognition and reciting of Chinese characters with use of right brain and allow children to move on to writing and composition afterwards.

I am sure that this system will be very effective. Would encourage all fellow parents to take a look to gain an understanding.
