Hi a328,  I noticed your son is not an autism kid nor any autistic features.  Can u share the comments of the assessment from the psychologist?

which one?the private one? if bas eon the private one, my son is a typical Autistic, and medium one, he say he ignore others, not friendly etc, anyway, that private one is  a crab one and we did not contact him anymore.

if government one, they mention that he is not a typical one, just when have temper will show some syndrome. if he is cheerful and happy, he can at like normal kid, u can see any feature unless he throw temper. also if he feel you are not friendly type , he can be very cool.

Thanks for sharing.  My girl's case is mild austistic features, this is a comment from a private phycologist.  She says she wouldn't put an autism label on my girl becoz' of she has some mild features but not the typical ones.  On the other hand, she thinks my girl has speech delay which that's the part she concerns more.
My girl is 2.5 years old now, she is very cheerful, friendly and a fast learner but she doesn't want to say anything which is more than 2 words.  She has a mild to moderate sensory integration disorder and very stubborn personaility.   I suspect whether she is an autism kid, that's why take her to see the phycologist.  

I will take the report and queue up for the speech theraphy under government service, meanwhile, attending weekend course at step and sensory integration training at another centre as well.

you can try to line up in Kidsmind (in wan chai), my son is having training there and it is good and professional,
my son is attending speech, SI and social class in this summer.

Friend of mine told me that the therapist in USA will not label this as speech delay, they label this as 'lack of technic'
cos same as you, my son is good in vocal, but he never have long sentence before or unwilling  to say long sentence, but it does not mean he do not know how to talk, just lack of technic in forming long sentences.

He improve a lot, after attending the course for 1 year, actually you can see the progress already after 2-3 months. they will have a short meeting with you every time after the class to tell you about their progress.

Anyway you can look for the similar course in Kidsmind or other centre which is close to you,

Hi a328,好多謝你既分享！我仔仔剛滿3歲, 係私人機構做左評估話佢自閉症marginal case, 8分係cut off 位, 佢就9分。我已經立即同佢報左協康言語治療, 優質職業治療, 邁步社交小組, 仲有小童群益會既言語訓練, 每個訓練都係一星期一堂, 但我想問係咪都唔及好似你仔仔上密集咁好呢？請問你仔仔係邊度上密集課程? 我仔仔又係上午返k1, 擔心佢日日下午都要返密集既話會唔會頂唔順, 麻煩你可唔可以分享你時間如何安排？十分謝謝！
另外kidsmind果D訓練係咪小組既呢? 我地都住灣仔, 如果係小組訓練可能等佢過左今年既訓練就暑假同佢報呢D classes. 多謝你既分享！為我地呢D徬徨既家長指引方向！

Hi Armolmama,
I never attend 密集.


my schedule during K1 is as follow:


Mon-Fri- morning, normal K school
Sat morning, STEP in central for 3 hours


MON- Friday afternoon:
Monday: 2 course in Kidsmind ( each 45 mins ) 1 speech and 1 SI, each class 4-5 student only, i guess max is 6-8
Tuesday: skating ( 1 hr, he like sport, try to join sty he like, A-kid also can enjoy their life and interest
Wednesday: none
Thursday: 3 hour eng course, cos my son love the teacher a lot, and they familiar with my son, and they know how to handle A -kid
Friday: art and craft course - as my son love this course. ( 1 hr only)


So you can see, except saturday and monday, i did not apply any further special course for him, the rest is something he truly like and enjoy and will feel happy. i truly think his si important for them as long as they enjoy and like it, they will improve a lot.


HOLIDAY: mainly outdoor activity: swim, hiking, countryside activity etc etc. or let him be mini chef at home as he enjoy cookery.

請問你小朋友喺step星期六上3小時係咩訓練呢？另外，喺kidsmind 上的speech 同SI 訓練，需評估後才可上嗎？

it is a social group, for the course in kidsmind, as we have assessment in government already,so we can directly can directly apply the course

我地住灣仔，上左幾個月邁步社交小組，而家星期六係本身讀緊幼稚園上興趣班，黎緊領思職業治療姑娘話可以由個人轉小組治療，因為阿仔進步左好多！真係多謝過來人無私既分享，等我地都可以跟住行

Your sharing is very details and good.
My son is three and a half now and was not Autism fm cac but marginal case fm step when he was two and a half

After attending a year of social class, his social skills improved a lot

But he also has weak motoring and 大肌肉too and weak in writing too
We have attending 感统class in hh but not much improvement. Also attending some 體操class and hope can help a bit
What will u do to improve the fine motoring skills

My son also self talk a lot at home and we always need to stop him or draw his attention back
He can talk and think a lot even we ask him to wear shoes and turn out it takes 5mins to wear the shoes
Any suggestion about this?? Thanks for your sharing

Hi, sorry i just read ur message now.
for hand mobile skill we have attend some short course provided by government hospital for 3-4 months, and we did but some marker pen for him to draw more at home on board, and join some art and craft class ( just normal class). i join one in kornhill is quite good, call attempt, i like the way they inspire the kid rather than just copy.

Also i have join some writing course during summer, i join the one in kidsmind, but u can look for other as well.

ur kids have sibling? actually after i give birth to the younger son, i saw most of the time they can play together, and try to make some fix playmate gathering to him at home, better a kid live close to you and willing to play and good in social skill, sometimes it more work than just join the class, hope it help

Yes, my son can speak both cantonese and English and little bit of mandarin as well.

Thanks. My son is marginal case and I started talking in English to him first. I am thinking if he can manage to introduce one more language as Cantonese. Do you have any tips about this from your son?

It really depend on your son language ability, for me my son is strong in vocab  but a bit weak in long sentences. So his course is more related to how to structure the long sentences.

in wanchai kidsmind, by the way we just receive the call form government that watchdog will have class available for us, we have wait for 2 years almost, they seems have language course as well, will take a look.

but i live in Hk side so i choose all the centre are in Hk side, if you are in kowloon side, try to look for other centre close to you, yes attending course is good but long traffic is exhausting and not good for kids as well
