My humble opinion on this is that the Cambridge tests are labelled for young learners of English implying that it is a English language proficiency test for students learning English as a second language.
For kids in Victoria, most of them (whose parents are able to support them at home) are conversationally close to being native and hence the Cambridge tests, even Movers is not that challenging to them PrOVIDED that they are able to read the words. And I looked through the tests myself and found the amount of writing is rather minimal. Furthermore, kids are very encouraged to read and even some PN kids are literate to a small extent like 50 - 100 words.
Therefore I am not doubtful regarding BB_Hung's comments.
Which schools will you consider to be strong in academic teaching? Some people think St Cat is strong while I have heard other comments that it is classified as happy school also.
Likewise I would think Rightmind is tough but some thinks it is not good enough for local primary!
schools like York and LH seem to prepare kids well for DSS application (correct me if I'm wrong) by equipping them with Cambridge tests or simply enhanced levels of academic. So, do Vic parents usually "equip" their kids by themselves just to level with schools like those or Vic students are fine without drilling in terms of P1 application? Of course, I personally don't like drilling and that's why I chose Vic!! Just curious about Vic's culture...
