It's hard to choose between Kentville & SC! I prefer Kentville this afternoon but now I prefer SC more (always change my mind)! What should I do!!!

both of kinders accept my kid's to AM session too.
I prefer kentville more than sc in this moment.
I will go to kentville to pay registration fee tomorrow.

Good topic, some question around me a month ago la. Just received the interview letter, I already got a headache how to choose between SC and Kentville.

My son got a place in am class of both schools, Dorest Rd of Kentville and Norfolk Rd of SC. I very very wish my son could accepted by CCKG K2 or DBS Primary School P1 due to my husband is a old boy of CCKG and DBS.

My questions :

1)My understand that SC have a native English in K1 at all time. From K2, the native English teacher just stay in English lesson, is it correct ?

2) SC, may be better to train up my son to speak with CCKG 鬼佬校長 during the interview , is that right ?

3) Is the Kentville campus of Kent Rd is better than Dorest Rd, because many bk children got a places in Kent Rd. Do u know what is the different between two campus ?

4) Through the school material have been provided to parents, SC is provide more details than Kentville, i.e.) school bus time table and arrange a breifing session in City U later. Also, the arrangement of the interview, SC is better than Kentville. Do u have the same feeling ?

5) Should I paid register fees to both school at this moment and make decision in next 7 months (before 1 Aug 2005) ?

So, May we have a chance to 統計 how BK mum choose primary school between SC & Kent ?

For me, I prefer SC --> Maryknoll or 德望

As my know, if your husband is old boy of DBS.
Even your son is study Kent,
CCKG also accept, becoz old boy of DBS must be
sucessful!
My friend of son, he was study Kent before, and my friend is old boy of DBS, and his two sons is study in CCKG now!

SC - 希望囡囡打好英文基礎, 開開心心讀書, 又怕將來小學銜接不到

Kent - 傳統教學又怕囡囡太辛苦, 不吸收, 有反效果, 她比較硬頸, 適合活動教學法, 但將來小學又容易銜接

各位基於什麼去選擇呢, 請分享下

我都好迷惘！我估我多數會選Kentville :

我仔現在在救世軍讀緊N1,
我覺得他性格比其他小朋友成熟，理解力及認知能力都高，而且很早已說話，現在已和大人對話如流。
我察覺仔仔比較喜歡靜態學習，晚上坐定定玩認字/配圖等遊戲佷enjoy，可以很專注。他這幾天甚至喜歡揭我的小說(無圖兼細字)，逐頁逐頁找他已識的十個八個中文字。但在校同一班小朋友唱遊時，雖然參予但就顯得"唔多關我事"有點冷眼旁觀的樣子。(但他能記下大部份的歌詞!!)

我感覺較傳統的kentville較適合他，但自己都不能肯定。
不肯定應順他的性格選校(kentville)或是幫助他平衝"獨家村"的性格(SC)。定是根本他都未定性 ？

各位媽媽，可否比些建議我應如何選擇?

點解你覺得SC銜接不到小學，而Kent又容易銜接到小學?
我想你需要考慮小朋友在語言發展方面著重English & Cantonese。  因某些私立或直資小學在考P1時，需要speak english for interview，但如你只會考慮政府派位，SC & Kent 無分別，以我所知，SC & Kent 在K2時中文文字上教差不多，不同係Kent 需要寫功課多過SC，但SC功課比較interesting.

其實教局轉了334之間,學生將會唔再著重係考試,多數係係個人發展方面,德育培養,個人品德,較為重要,其實語言係好重要學好了一生受用,如果interview私小好多時都係口試,好小筆試. 讀邊間家長真係要考慮下自己小朋友興趣取向係邊,而唔係人云亦云.

Is a traditional kindy really 100% traditional?  Is an active learning kindy really 100% active learning?

I know a Kentville parent who said to me that Kentville's teaching approach is active than SPK (she has a daughter in SPK and another daughter in Kentville).  Can you believe it?  However, she admitted that parents have to put some effort on the child's study during K3.

I also know a SC parent who said that SC is traditional.  Can you believe it?  A SC K2 mom told me that children have 2 homeworks to do everyday.  Do you think it is heavy?

I also wonder how many SC and Kentville students receive English lessons outside their schools to booster their English standard.

I also know that many SC's parents also let their kids to attend other English courses outside school to keep the English standard.  Understand that SC gets a lot of help from parents to run the school successfully. In fact, SC and Kentville's parents may be more eager to send their kids to famous English primary schools, so will do a lot of things to achieve this.    That's also explain why SC's students are so welcomed by famous primary schools.  Parents' effort and contribution counts a lot indeed.
