Re: Please Help! PLKTAYSF vs Victoria (Homantin)
J&Amom,
二家姐個仔 : 大仔剛畢業SC, 在Kinder 時, 成績優秀, 現讀P1!!細仔出年會讀PLKTAYSF, 她話SC收個細仔, 都唔再考慮SC
Why your sister won't consider SC for her younger boy? I've heard different comments towards SC too from my friends. All have favourable comments except one who quit after one month.
I think ernest's concern is the accent that her child may pick up if English is taught by a non-native speaker. If the children hadn't attended outside hours Phonics class, do you think they still speak good English in general? Do they have an accent?
While I heard that PLKTAYSF is a good school, from their correspondence to parents applying for the school, the English is not well-written at all. I've pointed this out in details in another thread in the chatroom.
ckwliu,
Agree with you that "There is NO "better" school, it's the question of suitability." My friend has the same comment as you on Victoria although another friend praises Victoria (because her daughter had a happy time there). So it's a matter of meeting the parents' needs.
ernest's,
If Mandarin and English are your priorities, find a school with bilingual stream (i.e. Mandarin & English).
Hart
