父母英語水平一般，又想孩子讀IS......!!!!

My son is now 11 and he's been studying in int'l schools for 9 years since he was 2 years old.

My husband and I are both local HK, never studied abroad. We can speak and write fluent but not native English and we are not very confident and comfortable in mingling with foreigners.

I think it would be difficult and challenging if you can't communicate even in basic English, for meetings and correspondences with schools. But, 有志者事竟成, I totally agree that parents can learn and improve their English together with their kids, as long as you have the desire and determination. Also, I always believe that we are learning and 'growing' with our kids all along since they are born.

In fact, me and my husband do hesitate everytime, when being asked to join the parents gatherings, due to the language and cultural differences. However, I do 'encourage' and push myself that I have to get over that hurdle and try to mingle with the other parents, as I have to know and understand more about my son's social circle. Which is very important to him and his growth, and our relationship.

Again, I think it's a matter of determination and putting effort.

Do you all send your kids to IS for their primary and secondary studies?

My case is like this:
My son will have high chance to get into La Salle primary.  So, basically I can choose any pre-nursery and kindergarten for him.  My boy will start his pre-nursery study in an International kindergarten this Sep.  Later on, I will need to decide if he should stay in the same school to study K1-3.  His school has some Cantonese and Mandarin classes from K1 onwards.

If you were me, will you go back to local kinder, or will stay in the Int'l kinder?

幼稚園愉快, 小學辛苦, 佢會失去讀書興趣.

但係有啲本地幼稚園都係功課容易或愉快學習,咁你言下之意係我要幫佢搵間難啲的幼稚園?

不過我覺得細路仔學嘢好快,另外除咗返學,仲有好多其他途徑去學習.

我估有香港的中五程度，都可以再進修英語，最簡單方法買美國兒童DVD (e.g ELMO),  最好買3歲的程度，有字幕，睇時重可作親子活動。

我見Elmo 同主持點同小朋友打招呼, 解決問題，玩遊戲， 我照學， 重找學校的小朋友'練習'下。連 ...
