Hi,

I am not quite sure when there will be an open day but I know there will be a open performance on the coming Monday evening from 5-7 pm on Avenue of Stars in TST.  I guess it would be a good chance if you would like to talk to some of their students and parents!!

I think DGS will accept more APS student after it changed to DSS, but it may not direct related whether they are music elites or not.  It is because the acadamic result of APS is good and their English standard is higher enough to catch up DGS's standard.  

But of course, it is very good if you children reached G8 before P6.  FYI, the school band of DGS will only consider the student who reach G7 and passed their audition.  

This year, only 2-3 girls from APS to DGS F1, one of them is my friend's daughter, but she is accepted via lucky draw.  She also reached G8 flute in P4.

How can APS train a girl to obtain G8 in flute at the age of 9? Is she learning flute in APS or thro other teachers? It is really unbelieveable!

You can check the list post in APS 2 years ago when she's P5, she got 校際音樂節Solo flute Senior Primary Gold Prize.  That year, Gold & Silver prize on flute for Senior Primary, the holders are from APS.

My nephew, he is learning 雙簧管 since Sept 2004 & will taking ABRSM G4 in this Apr 2005.  Only 7 months training & can reach G4.  

A lot of school they provide venue to the teacher & students learning musical instrument but pay private tutor fee.  It is not the reason they are study in APS but the investment of the parents.  Of course, they spent much time of training flute plus talent.

Did you go to see the brass band competition on 26/12 in Cultural Centre?  APS standard is really high.

Hi Harry Potter,

I think you went to the Cultural Centre to see the performance of the winners of the Music Festival.  It was too bad that my daughter was sick that day and our family did not go to see it!  I Did the Brass Band win on the 25th and got the chance to perform on the 26th?  How was it? I heard the String Band also win this year, right?  I wish I had seen it :(

Yes, I see the competition on 26/12 and 27/12/04.
APS band is supreme. The next impressive one is Kei Wan.

Yes, I went to Cultural Centre on 26/12 only because my daughter is one of the participants.  We are very excited that day, I sat with my daughter on the balcony.  The last 2 schools not yet present prize are APS & our school.  But, we know the gold prize should be APS because our school cannot perform very well, a lot of accidents on that day.

My friend, although her daughter was graduated from APS to DGS, with her husband came to support APS.  See, these are APS's parents.  But, we also had a few graduated students came to support our school.

This is warm up only, the coming competition will be in Feb/Mar -- the music festival.

Mr. Fung is not the conductor of my daughter's band, her conductor is the Principle Tuba Of Hong Kong Sinfonietta - Mr. Lam.  The accident is that a student who played French Corn but he always absence in training, they used Trumpet to replace/pretend French Corn, of course the sound is no good.  But the student suddenly shown up on that day and follow them to join the competition.  

This problem will not happen in APS because they have a lot of students play each parts of instrument.  They never relied on 1 student.

I heard some BK mum said that APS had nearly 200 prizes (1st , 2nd & 3rd) in music fest last year. Is it real? APS's web site doesnt mention it. How about the music fest result of your daughter's school compared with APS? Which one is better?
