Dear all,

I found a few GHS graduated mama here.  Do you have any idea of GH Secondary now because I've just helped my daughter to enrol this school.  I have struggled for a long time because I'm afraid my daughter cannot catch up the English standard, she is now studying traditional gov't school, of course they use mother language to teach all subjects besides English.  Please advise :

1) 是否很多學生都要另外出去補習?
2) 我知道有精英班, 但對跟唔上的學生, 會點處置佢地? 放棄? 要求repeat令佢地卻步, 自己失蹤? 勸佢離開?
3) 學習氣氛如何? 老師是否盡責 or 像許多名校 assume 家長會請補習?
4) 學校喜歡那類型學生, active sport or good at music? I went to file application form last Friday & found that they have got a lot of sport prize.
5) They like 乖乖的 or active but clever?
6) 是否either 讀書型 or 為校爭光型, 若兩者都無, 學生是否較難生存.

Too many questions, please kindly give me direction.

我兩年前ghs form5 畢業... 所以我d資料應該係德望仲未轉直資以前.. 不過而家應該都唔差得太遠o既(卦)~

1. 我小學o個時絕大部份人都係唔駛補習.. 自己(或媽媽幫手)搞掂晒o既... 中學時應該一半一半卦(有補習o既人最多都係六成左右.. 我估)

2. 我o個時學校冇咁對d跟唔上o既學生o既..~ 不過全級最差o個幾個基本上都一係踼一係留班... 其他"較差"o個d通常都係跟弱頸group埋一班, d先生會習中同佢地補o個科目.. (中學時係中英數各一班)

3. 學習氣氛... 可以好濃... 亦可以好薄弱... 好極端
以小學計, 我o個時差唔多全部先生都好好... 亦唔覺得佢地會assume學生去補習(甚至有d先生係反補習o既)
我o個時o既中學先生就... 冇乜會不負責任o既... 不過有部份未至於"熱心"囉... 不過大部份對學生都好好

4. 邊類型我真係唔知... 學校乜人都有... 不過如果有瓣課外活動掂o既話學校多數都會鐘意. 同埋德望o係學校體育同音樂真係好出名

5. 我諗兩樣都鐘意.. 不過我諗過份得滯都唔鐘意...

6. 唔會. 我o個時又唔讀書又冇為校爭光, 一樣係咁生存. 同埋基本上大部份學生都唔會係哩兩種.. 大家都只係普通學生.

另外德望轉o左直資之後d師資流動真係好大.. 不過通常都係d後生d o既老師...

仲有, 唔好expect德望中學部o既成績可以同dgs比(雖然起碼都有band 1 成績.. 但結果係點都要睇個人資質運氣等等)況且大家都知道香港o既考試制度根本就唔可以正確反影學生資質... 如果唔係以我會考連廿分都冇o既成績, 又點會入到美國一流大學? 我識o既人之中甚至有人讀新法, 高考肥晒而家一樣讀緊uc berkeley, ucla. 所以如果唔打算俾仔女讀香港d大學的話唔駛太介懷公開考試...

一定要提o既係中學部功課壓力好大.. 一定要有心理準備
難聽d講, 係大到痴線.. 冇十一二點唔駛訓
但以一個留學生o既身份去睇, 我要多謝當年中學部o既超大工作量同壓力... 如果當年冇受過o個種訓練, 我諗我冇可能挨得到而家哩種d professor當正你係神童, 放學又要打工搵錢交學費o既生活...

你都幾中肯。但有部份想補充一下：

小女我問讀得辛苦嗎－＞　佢答：平時有溫下書都唔係太辛苦！做功課，佢都係做到八點令。
英文科同數學就真係幾有要求。

其實我唔覺ＤＧ成績係高Ｄ架。因我都有親人係度讀。會考得十六分，都可原校讀中六。仲有佢話佢Ｄ成績其實都唔叫好差。十Ａ學生有Ｄ唔係小學上，係其他小學中一插入來。
當然亦有個別資優生啦　！

其實每間都有個別好叻的學生。屋村學校出狀元都大把啦。再符肯付出幾多努力嘮　！

請問德望現時學費多少錢? 現時是上下午制, 是怎樣分年級上課? 又是否遲些會轉全日制呢?

我的女兒現在讀k2, 請問可否分享下德望面試的過程。 妳們的女兒讀緊邊間幼稚園?  GH是否喜歡收一些名幼稚園呢?  我真的很想女兒能入到Good Hope。  多謝各位提供宝貴意見。

我02年中五畢業.. 而家o係美國UC Berkeley讀緊(Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences), 同我同屆o既有一個都o係ucb, 讀economics.
(所以我o個d資料都係直資前o既... 同埋初中係點我真係冇乜太大印象.. 中四五就好辛苦)

不過其實我係一個比較"奇怪"o既例子.. 因為我以前只係文科裏面o既一隻中游生物... 到中五時突然發覺留o係香港讀唔到自己想讀o既野(我想入中大.. 但中大唔收文科學生讀engineering/cs... 再加上中五初重經出過一個同computer science有關o既校際比賽.. 當時受到一間名男校o既學生侮辱.. 亦可以叫sexual harassment). 自此改變主意即刻報考試過美國讀書... 亦係咁所以體會到香港考試及教育制度真係好唔掂...

Which city of your U, how many hours of time difference?
You are very good, keep on hard working, 前途無可限量.
May I know what different between overseas' and HK education? I'm afraid overseas' education would be too loose for a kid before F.5.  Please advise.

Not really.  Basic traditional education for primiary will be adequate for certain kind of kid.

To my personal opinion, the best time to send kids to study abroad will be before F3.

Overseas educations provides kid more space to develope their thinking, creative skill. and will widen their horizon strengthen their communication skills with different nations. ......

Most important, keen competition for good school after F4.....

I suppose my kid daughter can go to a good secondary school such as Good Hope, so overseas education will be pending until finished her secondary school.  I'm afraid children are not mature enough and want them stay with me for longer time.
