I see the website is www.ballerina.com.hk  They have a show in Aug, wonder if 3 years old can perform on stage?  I called them, they have Latin, Ballet and Jazz.  Give them a call first.

I prefer Tom Lee and Yip's due to their long history of providing such courses, clear focuses, and relatively reasonable fees.

Parsons music courses are centred on Alfred's materials. Honestly, being a full-time instrumental teacher (graduated from a British university with a music performance degree), I've introduced my son to violin and piano playing with some better books! I am not particularly a fan of Alfred's publications.

Suzuki...   is not my cup of tea, either. It encourages playing by ear. New pupils who come to my studio with Suzuki books are often weak in sight-reading and normally need to learn reading the dots all over again. (P.S. I don't know much of Suzuki method in depth. Just from my experience of recruiting new students and a basic glance at the Suzuki books) After all, I don't believe in the 'claimed' magic of Suzuki Method.

Furthermore, I heard so many poor comments about KinderU when I took my son to different playgroups in the past years...not worth the high fees...

Better save up $500-800 each month for concert/show tickets! Don't rely too much on the courses.

Forgot to mention: Our experience at Kids' Playhouse was fairly good. However, after about 4 months of Baby Storyland (quite enough... it was becoming kinda repetitive), I withdrew my boy from that centre. And then he started learning phonics (Hooked On Phonics) at Parsons.

Am agree of ABC Pathway which is far away too expensive and cause am thinking of this two centre ?

I've blacklisted 'Graceful Hands' after hearing quite much...about it from other BK moms.

Do you live near Po Lam? We live at Hang Hau. I am quite interested in the Trinity and Cambridge English courses organised by Shine Kids Studio near our residence. Rate is around $200/hr, class size: max 6-7. Native speakers. Sounds pretty good and experienced with students' public exam results displayed at the centre. However, I've enrolled my child in too many courses already. Hardly let him try this one.

ohmygosh, oh, I actually live in island east district but I am not too familiar with the schools in this area, coz i used to live in kowloon side.
but i've heard about kei wan primary also, but i search online, there are 2 kei wan in the area?? so, which one is your target one?

btw, just registered TL's MW yesterday (will start in June) i hope my son will enjoy it

我阿女而家係kids gallery 學 art & craft 佢好鍾意之餘又學到英文, 佢個centre 全用英文教, 不論art or ballet ,係一個唔錯選擇, 不過...就係九龍塘

有關"shine kids studio" 真的很好嗎 ??? 很想知多些資料呢 ??

Glad to know that you've registered your little one for MW.

Haha...  I grew up in Island East (Taikoo Shing). But my parents moved to Tseung Kwan O when I was studying abroad. So, when I came back, I could no longer go back there. Since I need their help in looking after my son when I am teaching, I must live close to them. In fact, I won't consider the primary schools in TKO area - probably only those in Island East.

Kei Wan (Aldrich Bay) is said to be better.

How much is the phonics course? How long would it take to complete the course? Is it Letterland or Jolly? or others?

It's a shame that we haven't had a chance to try "shine kids studio" yet. Haven't come across anyone who has tried it, either. It just seems good. Wish to hear from parents of this studio, too.

Hi ILBC, sorry if I had intruded, but I just want to share.  I do have piano training (all the way), my son is now taking Suzuki at Prince Edward.  I realize they learn more to play by the ear, and perhaps they are weak at reading notes, but I really appreciate their encouragement, their way of teaching, and the kids have good ears, good listening skills and really appreciate music. It really help boost confidence and self-esteem in a kid.  My son has taken their kodaly and now their Suzuki piano course, he can read so fa names at 3 y.o.  I think it would be best to start with Suzuki, then when they need more skills, I may consider transfering back to traditional way.

ic.  Actually she joined its Eng playgroup for 5 months before and yes, I agree that it's repetitive and we quitted.

I learnt one parent here saying it's good so I just wanna know more about it.  I'm checking the KinderU Suzuki centre in Wan Chai.  Don't know if they're the same?
The piano courses are very expensive for me.  $16000/18 lessons!
My daughter is just 2, I'm not considering any specific musical instruments learning at the moment.  But yes, I want to arouse her interest in music first and just don't want to join music playgroup with more than 10 kids in a class.  As my girl is very active and easily be distracted, small class size is much suitable I think.
Yes, I'm thinking about joining Suzuki at her early age for better ear training first.  When she starts learning an instrument later, may switch back to the traditional one.

佢地(explorer Island) 既 phonics 係用Letterland 既教材(我prefer letterland 既教學多d ) 星期一至五 $160一堂, 而星期六,日就 $180, 佢有補堂, 補堂可以單對單教, 教既過程係睇左 (當日要教既字母) Letterland 既片先, 之後就做練習, 講吓故事..等, 係由一個加拿大藉外籍先生教, 阿女都係上了兩堂, 未知好唔好, 不過我見個price 都比出面平而且最多都只係4個小朋友開一班, 所以就試吓先囉....
