My son is in P1 and I just share what I know here:

1.功課多少
It's reasonable. My son can finished within a hour. However, the web excercise is quite time consuming (but it's not compulsory)

2.老師是否有愛心，是否關心小朋友各方面發展
My son's class teacher is very nice. I know the parents of another 2 classes, their comments are also positive. The headmistress is also very considerate that you should not be surprised if you receive her call.
        
3.是否注重德育的培養
IMO, SPC is a traditional school that they concern about moral education and discipline. The lesson of G/C focuses on moral eductaion as well. Some of the parents even think the school is too tough. But I think boys need more discipline   
   
4.讀書壓力是否很大
The pressure from school is not that high when comparing with the peer groups. According to my observation in these few months, the expectation of parents are so high that most of the students' test/dictation results are really good. If your average is 8X points, you may only be ranked as about 20/30 only.

My Son got accepted too. Actually, Does the DSS ensure that the primary students will go direct to St. Paul's secondary college?  Also, Is St. Paul's Coed better than St. Paul's Boys???

dear Taku,

Paul Boy not yet get direct connet to Secondary, but they are "working", I think it is possitive coz we have 6 yrs time

Not fair to compare Coed & Paul boy, coz difference style school types..... it depends on you & your kid suit or not....Coed's kids' family background are quite "HIGH", Paul Boy more down to earth. (my point of view only)

Dear all parents,

While congratulating those who got the offer, I wish to encourage others not to give up but have faith and confidence in your kids...

For me, I'm rather puzzled now....    See if someone can help me.

It's the first time I enter the "rimary School" section of BK (I used to read about kinders).  Since St Paul's Boys is one of the dream schools for my son, I wish if anybody can give me an advice.

My 2 yr 3 mth old son has recently got the offers from SKH and St Paul's Church Kinders (both am class) (plus some other kinders as well such as KCS).  At first, we just wished to play safe by trying more so-called good kinders, but have never thought of choosing SKH & SPCK even if given an offer, because people say their English curriculum is not strong enough.

However, during these few days I have heard so many people in the BK Kinders Section that these 2 kinders have quite good primary 1 allocation track record.  Could somebody advise if these kinders are good or not?  (my original plan is to put my son into two kinders, one local (KCS to have strong exposure in Putonghua) and one international.

The registration deadline for SKH is 23 Nov while that for St Paul's Church is 24 Nov.  Should I pay the registration fees first for both, or either one (then which one is better)?  

May I have your kind and timely advice pls (if your son is chosen by St Paul's Boys, pls also share which kinder your boys study now)  Thanks very much! :

Yes.  If you accept offer from Direct Subsidized School (like St. Paul's Boys), you are not eligible to get a place through central allocation.

what is your meaning of "final results of the lottery " ?  26 Nov 2007 you will know the 1st round result.  Paul boy's register date is 1 Dec, I think it is fair & enough time for us to make decision la

If you accept the offer made by DSS, no matter Boys or Co-ed, the school will submit a list to the Education Dept.  ED won't even send you the 'lottery ticket' (allocation form) for the 2nd round.  It is unlikely that the school hold the place for you until the final result is out next June.

It's the practice in the previous years.  Would other parents please correct me if it is not the case this year.

I agree that the homework can usually be finished within an hour, but I can't agree that the it is of reasonable amount.  

The principal / vice-principal told in a briefing that they aim at giving homework to P.1 pupils which they can finish within 1/2 hour according to the guidelines of Education Dept.

I found the homework level quite tough for a P.1 boy in terms of 'no. of pieces'.  It is very often that there are 2 pieces of work (excluding correction) from each subject.  I did not expect 6, 7 items of homework before.

Also, I personally don't like that the school adopt the supplementary exercises that are sold in market as routine course work.
