The current problem is that for those 中中生 the chance to be admitted by universities is very slim espeically if one wants to study in HK or overseas (non-chinese speaking countries) for non-Chinese related subjects because of their poor English standards especially for those subjects with mainly technical teminologies and jargons in English.

Nowadays, it is extremely vary rare for an 英中生 who 連自己個英文地址都唔識寫. Those who can admitted to an EMI would not be so poor!!!
The reason of 學中文學到似母語既外國人,可謂鳳毛麟角 is so simple that why the foreigners in the past dare to learn Chinese.
On the other hand, it is in fact not true that 學英文學到似母語既中國人,好似多好多 unless he/she is studying in international schools or living aboard from very young age.

您既觀點係:
the students at least had more chances to use English and learn much more English terminologies and jargons and there was no problems in connecting to those English speaking universities. The average English standard of the students in the past was much much better than the current 中中生.
Unlike the current ridiculous policy set by EB that all 英中 have to conduct the lessons in English, in the past those so called 英中 will use English textbooks but the teachers will sometimes use Cantonese to explain the lessons depending on the language standard and ability of their students and then it can solve the problem of the expression ability of the teachers as well as the understandability of the students.
The problems should be solved by letting free-hand to the schools to use the languages they preferred to teach the students, like the system in the very very past that the teachers were allowed to explain in Cantonese if deem necessary even though the textbooks were in English.
It is not fare to quote the individaul successful stories of those limited outstanding examples of 中中生. We have to take a look on the general statistical data but not individual examples.
Our 教育制度 should not label a group of students to be second-class especially when they are still very young and depict their chances of entering English speaking universities as long as English is still the major acceptable international languages and most of the top universities or renowned professors are English speaking.
TOEFL考過600分既 doesn't mean good in English. They just have attained the baisc English standard in order to study in the US. You may check how many hours and how hard they have to study in order to attain over 600 marks in TOEFL.
It is true that 全世界企業都會北望神州. However, Mainland China has so many talented people and experts and what is the role of HK people if we don't have a high level of English standard and communication skill in order to act as the bridge between the Chinese and foreign enterprises?
我唔覺得新一代有a high level of English standard and communication skill,更重要既係,佢地冇可同佢地既communication skill匹配既世界觀同思考能力,可以搭到條乜橋,都真係幾難預計到.
